Political Parties: Barack Obama Stand Up

President Barack Obama won the 2008 election on the idea that he was going to make a change. In fact, his entire campaign was based on the premises that there would be a drastic change, once he arrived in the White house, and the old way of doing things would cease and a new way of doing business would take place in Washington. Quite naturally, one major change which took place was a new health care plan which was passed and already has gone into affect. It was very difficult for President Obama and the Democratic party to get this legislation through Congress, but, they did, even though they faced a strong opposition from members of the Republican party. President Obama also was very instrumental in getting a stimulus package passed to bail out Wall Street and a few corporate giants.. Many U.S. citizens  opposed this, but, the Obama administration claimed that this was good for the American  political economy. So far during Obama’s presidency, he has been very instrumental, in getting the follow legislation passed through the U.S. Congress:

 (a) The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed in February 2009;

 (b) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, passed in March 2010;

 (c) The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, passed in July 2010.

 In spite of his accomplishments, President Obama, needs to be more tougher with members of the Republican party. For example, while giving his state of the union address, South Carolina’s senator, Joe Wilson, called Obama a liar on national television. President Obama should have had Joe Wilson kicked out of the chambers. If Senator Joe Wilson, did not have enough respect for President Obama, and, had the nerve to call him a liar on national television, then President Obama should not of had any respect for him, and, therefore, had Joe Wilson thrown out of the chambers. I believe that if President Obama had done this, I think that General Stanley McChrystal, would have thought twice, before he had an article published in ” Rolling Stones ” magazine, blasting the Obama administration. Since Joe Wilson was able to call Obama a liar without any repercussions, it made President Obama appear to be soft or weak. Nevertheless, the president did show some strength, when he fired General Stanley Mcchrystal, and replaced him with General David Petraeus. The point that I am making here is that, President Barack Obama needs to stand up more and stop trying to be all thing to all people. For example, I am not sure why President Obama felt that he had to meet with the Gay and Lesbian Coalition. A lot of gays and lesbians are both racist and sexist, and many of them cannot stand black people. They argue that their struggle for equality is similar to that of the African American, while at the same time having a strong dislike toward the African American. Another example would be when President Obama met with Harvard Professor, Henry Louis Gates Jr., and police officer James Crowley, concerning the animosity and chaos between these two men. At a press conference, Obama pointed out that the actions of the Cambridge Police Department, were stupid. The Cambridge Police Department, wanted an apology from Obama in which they did not get. However, President Obama did meet with Sgt. James Crowley, along with Henry Louis Gates Jr, over a few beers. President Obama should not have met with Sgt. Crowley because it made him look weak . I bet if things were turned around, and George W. Bush, was still in the White House, he would not have met with a small time police officer. No way. President Barack Obama needs to stand up and be a little more tougher than he has been. Also, he needs to start going to church again, and stop worrying about what a lot of those racists in the Republican Party thinks. Obama, should find a church of his choice, for both he and his family. After all, who does he think allowed him to become the first African American president in the first place? The worst thing that Barack Obama can do is, to forget the living ” God “, who allowed him to become the president of the United States.

    Barack Obama has done some things that have benefited this country, but not enough. Obama has shown so far that he is a very weak president. he needs to be more aggressive and take control of situations. Though he has somewhat pulled us out of this so called recession it hasn’t really been significant. All he really did was put the united states in more debt.
