I know that racism exists, and it probably always will, but how can we as a nation get past it when it is always shoved into everyones face. Every time you turn around there is something here or there that is racist. When Obama was elected, it was for sure a huge deal, however why was it every time his name was brought up it was attched to his race. I do not care what color or race you are. We will never get past racism in this country as long as people always bring it up, i am not saying to ignore it but rather figure out a way to fix it.
Republican and Conservitives alike do want a smaller govt. and there was many opponents to the worthless 850 Billion bailout. Even though The President said it HAD to be done to stop the downward spiral the economy was facing. And as far as the Health Care Bill is designed to help "the poor and common man" and the Republicans being in the back pockets of the insurance companies, what about the Unions and the activists groups? whos in their pockets? the Dems. and Liberals. So thats ok? They are all interst groups that have two things in mind, money and power.
The Tea Parties are not a racist group, there has been no proof of the so called racial epithets being reported. Republicans are not racists, Conservatives are not racists. As you have pointed out, there are racists entities in any group you look at. The NAACP is a good example, the New Black Panthers as well, i am sure that they are not all racists but there are for sure racists in those groups. If you are gonna accuse some Repubs. and Conservatives of you have to look at other groups as well. How about the leader of the New Black Panthers yelling about hating crackers, and killing white babies. That is pretty racist, or when the same guy was outside of a polling place intimidating white voters coming to cast their ballot. Why was that case dropped by Eric Holder? If it was the KKK doing that, the case would have never been dropped. Why is it any different for The New Black Panther Party, why did the get away with it?
I am not upset that Obama is the persident, i am upset @ his policies and what he is trying to do. As he put it in his campaign speech "to fundamentally transform the United States". There are things that need to be fixed for sure, but there has to be better ways to do it. When will the administration quit blaming Pres. Bush for everything that is going wrong. When will they man up and say, we need to handle this, it sucks we got some things the way they are but it is what it is. Why is it always someone elses fault?
the housing market....Clinton had something to do with that with the "Fair housing Law" taht was passed during tenure. if you want to point fingers and all. sorry, got off on a tangent. =)
I have yet to hear anything remotely related to racisn when it comes to the commentators on Fox News. I watch them quite a bit and have never heard them say or doing anything racists. For you to call them racists is way off base. Just because they disagree with what the President is doing, it automatically makes that person a racist? Whay can we not disagree with him? We are entitled to disagree with the administration, that is our right.
I am not angry or hurt that a 1/2 black man is president, like i said before, i do not like his policies. and for you to say you know why they are angry and hurt, because "it strikes down any notion of white supremacy" is totally asinine.
We will probably disagree on many political things Professor, but one thing i like is you are not afraid to speak your mind. I am the same way andi like that about you. One thing i will agree with you about is, God is the answer and the salvation and the truth.

Racism is here to stay. It bothers me that I had to say that. Why cant we just get along with one another? Why cant we be a race of people instead of individual race's? Ive experienced racism and still do today. I dont let it get me down, I keep fighting for my rights as well as others. I believe many in America love the fact that we are divided amongst race's and that bothers me everyday. One should see that racism must die. Interracial marraige and couples are on the rise, which should be a sign to all that, theirs alot of people out there that want to come together. Make the change America and lets end racism.

i completely agree with you. its amazing how racism continues to reside in the U.S. even till today. Obama was a prime example of this, and i find it very sad. being a black woman my self, i rarely fail to expirience this on a daily basis. i also feel like it is only the uneducated people who scream for less goverment intervention yet want to keep recieveing tax breaks from that same goverment. stupid!!!!

There is no doubt in my mind, there always has and always will be racism, now in America still is racism not as much as it used to be back in the days of slavery and depression. I believe it is due to the experiences throughout one's life, their negative interactions with a group that causes racism to develop. The more openly practiced forms of racism are in majority passed down from family or other guardianships. Also why color, or race should be an issue? Racism should not exist we are all people. Some people who are racist they do not like how people from different skin color or race talk, act or are different from themselves, due in part because it seems odd or out of the ordinary from the actions which they are accustomed to. These sorts of people will always exist, and nothing can change that. About Obama been a half black president had started lots of controversy. But! Obama is proof that anyone of any race can be anything they want if they work hard, study, and present themselves in a positive manner. In my opinion Racism is ridiculous and unreasonable.

I agree that racism still exists today. I believe that it happens to more races than just African Americans. And I believe that some African Americans are racist. I do not like that the world is still like this but there's no denying that racism and discrimination happen everyday. I am not racist. I think that every individual is unique and their appearance is part of them but a person should not be judged solely on that alone. I like that Obama became president it shows that different faces can fill the position on the highest level which is the president of the United States. It shows that people of different ethnic backgrounds can succeed if they put there mind to it. I think if people can stop being racist this world will grow so much more, but who knows if that day will ever come.

Racism has and will always continue to be a big issue in this great nation because we are exposed to so many different customs and ethnics groups that we are not used to. This and many other things like politics, religion, and education all affect the way we feel and act toward ather ethnic groups. I think in order for this nonsence to end more education about other ethnic groups should be thought in school so that children dont grow up feeling the same way that their parents may have felt. Instead of just saying your mad because of this or we are better than you because of that, immediate actions should be taken to stop this ongoing seed of racism.

i agree with you. It is not about what color you are or where you come from nut what is within you. We are all the same in the inside, despite our thoughts and feelings. Many people were very angry when Obama became president because of his color, even some of my friends. His color was the least of my worries. It was other reasons why i was upset, but well let's not get into that. What a men can do to change a nation is what matter the most. It is sad to know that many people in the white house are very angry abou this and are willing to do anything to take him out. I bet is very hard for Obama and his family to live confortable. His already a president but he is also a black president to some. I am very glad that a little flavor was added to our nation. It was about time somebody broke the chain. Now, we should all bless our president and pray for him so God can give him wisdom and knoweledge to run this country.

I don't understand how one is judged on the color of their skin. If I could choose the color of my skin, I would pick the color that of course would in more favor for me. That would get me further in life, help me to accomplish more. One should not be judged on the color of their skin, size, age, religion, etc.

Racism will always exist in america no matter how hard we try to stop it. It is up to you on how you will handle the situations you will confront. I have only had a couple of times where i had been made fun of or put down because of my race but theres always a way to handle things differently and make the other person somewhat realize what they are doing. this may not even have nothing to do with what the topic is about but it is what i think about when i see things about racism and what i think about this article.
