Do not be impressed with the proliferation of individuals who acquire awards or promotions, because in many cases, neither you nor I really know what that particular person or persons did to obtain those awards or promotions. For example, Jane works diligently on her job. She is always the work on time and she goes the extra mile to be sure everything is done correctly. Jane is also a very good team player. However, Susan is just the opposite. She constantly comes to work late, and she regularly whines and complains about the workload she has. Susan, is a very slender young women with red hair and blue eyes, and she is a knockout dresser. Jane on the other hand, is not so attractive. She is much older, and a little chubby with dark brown hair and light brown eyes. Well, a few months ago the company called a meeting to announce that Susan had obtained both an award and promotion for her outstanding job performance. Now was it fair for Susan to get the promotion? Quite naturally it wasn’t. Jane was really the one who should have gotten it. However, since Jane was not young and pretty, and was not sleeping with the boss, he was overlooked. This happens a great deal on many jobs and careers. Individuals getting awards and promotions for some other reason than excellent job performance or abilities. Let it be understood however, that I am not implying that nice looking women only get promotions on their jobs or careers, just because they sleep with their bosses, because this simply would not be true. There are some nice looking women who acquire job promotions merely because of their abilities and talents, and for no other reason. Over the years some whites have argued that many blacks and other minorities get jobs just based on their race, and, not because they are truly qualified. I would argue that historically it was the other way around, meaning whites acquired jobs strictly because of their white skin. However, nowadays I think individuals mostly get jobs on their qualifications, due to the changes of time in the America. Just having white skin just cannot get one over like it use to in the older days. One has to be white with credentials. However, I still believe that good looking people have an edge over those who are not so good looking, when it comes to the job market. The point that I am making here is, when individuals or groups get awards or promotions, that they may or may not deserve, always remember that awards and promotions are like hemorrhoids. Every butt hole gets one every now and them.

Generation Y: The Millennial Crowd

Generation Y, are wizards when it comes to technology, but many of them are very weak when its comes to thinking critically and analytically. It appears that outside of some type of electronic or technological device, Generation Y, or the millennial crowd, seem to be brain dead. One can notice them most of the time, walking around playing with some type of electronic device, while being oblivious to their surroundings. Even in many college classrooms, it is very difficult to get the millennial crowd to read the class materials. Most in this group, simply do not like to read anything past a text message on a phone. Below are some characteristics of Generation Y:

(a) They see themselves as victims and have the tendency to blame others for their shortcomings or mistakes;

(b) They do not want to accept or take responsibilities for their own actions;

(d) Several of them have bad attitudes and they act if the world owes them something;

(e) Most of them are usually overweight and they do not appear to be clean, with their clothes sagging and tattoos all over their bodies.

(f) I also have noticed that many of the young girls or women in the millennial crowd, walk around acting like they are so cute, when really they are just the opposite;

(g) Finally, the thing that gets me the most about Generation Y, is that they have been lied to by high school counselors, parents, and others, including a few professors, into believing that they are intellectuals giants, when really they are either intellectual midgets or not intellectual at all.

Generation Y thinks that having a 4.0, grade point average is all that is required of them, not realizing that professors and others know that G.P.A.’s are sometimes overrated. Character and other factors also come into play as well. Remember some of the world’s most notorious serial killers were very smart and had high grade point averages. Nevertheless, there are a small group in the millennial crowd who do not fall within the characteristics outlined above, and these are the ones who will go far in life, and, as a professor I can truly say they are very easy to work with.

Political Discrimination

Practically every job advertisement emphasizes that there will be no discrimination based on race, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, and may be a few others, I did not mention. However, practically everyone knows that this is a big lie, because jobs do discriminate based on the above factors just mentioned. But we lie to ourselves, by pretending to believe such nonsense. No one gets a job just based on his or her qualifications alone. Race, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, and other factors such as weight, height, looks, age, and disabilities, are all considered in the employer’s decision. Whether it is a single employer’s decision, or a committee’s decision, they will definitely take such factors into consideration. It is impossible to be born on planet earth and not have any prejudice or racists attitudes, because such elements are highly embedded in the agents of political socialization within any society or culture. If any person or group claim that they are not prejudice or do not have any racist thoughts in certain aspects of their lives, they are lying. In fact people who run around saying that they don’t see color, are some of the main ones who have prejudice and racists attitudes. To such individuals being prejudice or racist, means calling someone a derogatory name or committing overt racists acts against another person or group. However, discrimination goes much further than that. If the truth were to be told, we all have a little prejudice and racism in our hearts. I constantly hear professors telling students that if they go to this college and go to that college, they will be able to write their own ticket. What a joke. A 300 pounds woman with a degree from an Ivy League institution, will not get a job as fast as a small pretty petite woman, with a degree from a no named institution, and in many cases the overweight woman may be more qualified than her petite counterpart, but looks are going to play a major role here. The point that I am making here is that, any individual or group will discriminate consciously or unconsciously in some-way or the other. Why? Because it is human nature.

Jesus Christ And The Underworld

The Underworld awaits those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. What do the intellectuals and philosophers say when they see someone that they once knew lying in a coffin? Do they still engage in intellectual philosophical masturbation, or do they look dumbfounded? It is amazing to me how people have insurance on their houses and vehicles, health and dental insurance for their physical well being, and life insurance for themselves when they die. But will allow themselves to step into eternity without any insurance on their souls. Consider this for a moment, two men were taking a walk in the park, and they were about the same age. Tim was 75 and John, was 71. They both were in a deep discussion about the existence of God. Tim had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 17. Nevertheless, John told Tim that if God did not exist, he had waisted 58 years of his life serving Him. Tim immediately stopped and stared at John for a moment, and said “but if he does exist, you have lost eternity. Many individuals will spend eternity in a part of the underworld known as ”Hell”, if they leave this dimension without knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus died on the cross, so that no one would have to go to hell, and, he also defeated the entire underworld. Let it be understood however, that hell and the lake of fire are not the same. Hell is the dwelling place where the wicked spirits of men and women go, who did not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They will be in hell until the judgment of the ” Great White Throne “, where only the wicked dead shall rise. The Lake of Fire, however, is the final death. It is another compartment of the underworld. After the judgment of the ” Great White Throne, ” those in hell will be cast into the lake of fire. Let it be understood however, that individuals do not luck their way into hell, they choose to go there. The only way to avoid the underworld, is for one to accept Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior. There is absolutely no other way.

Glamour Shots

No old glamour shots please. It is amazing when one is chatting with individuals on the Internet, how they start sending pictures of themselves. The problem that I have with this is that, usually the pictures are not current. In other words, when a woman starts sending me pictures of herself, I do not want them to be photos of her 20 years ago. I want them to be photos of what she looks like right now. Sending me glamour shots of how she looked 20 years ago, is just not going to get it. No high school glamour shots please. I am not concerned that she weighted about 118 in high school and about 127 in college. I want to know how much she weights right now. Anything less than this is deception. No old glamour shots please. What one use to look like and what one use to could do, does not cut it. My question is, ” what does one look like now and what can one do now ? “ I am pretty sure that there are a lot of ladies out there, who feel the same way about the guys that they meet. Can you imagine ladies some guy sending you pictures of himself, being six feet-two and about 185 pounds, and when you finally meet him, he is five feet-nine and 320 pounds? More than likely ladies, you all will be highly dissappointed. Yes, I am very much aware that looks are not everything, but, one should not lie about his or her appearance or profession. Individuals should be honest with themselves, and not conjure up images of themselves which do not exist. No old and out dated glamour shots please.

Dangerous Temptations

Men who are in positions of authority, such as pastors, professors, police officers, managers and CEOs of businesses and corporations, and medical doctors, are in professions of dangerous temptations. I believe that the most dangerous profession of them all, is that of the professorship for the following reasons:

(a) The male professor is constantly around large groups of young beautiful women on a regular basis, especially if he teaches at a junior or community college, which usually requires a course load of five or more classes and out of those classes, at least two of them my have a hundred or more students in each class;

(b) No matter how many female students that a male professor resist, in his course of teaching, there will be a few that are irresistible. Therefore, the male professor has to constantly stay prayed up. Society’s always assumes that if a male professor gets involved with a female student, it was the professor who went after her. When sometimes it is the other way around, depending on the attractiveness of the male professor. Yes, I am very much aware that even though females students may come on to their male professors, it is up to the professors to reject them. In some cases this is easily said then done;

(c) The profession of the male professorship is a dangerous temptation because he has to be very careful about everything he says, because anything can be misconstrued, and he could have a sexual harassment claim against them;

(d) The male professor must constantly be aware of not to fraternize too much with his female students, because they may perceive it as a come on. This happened to me at my church with some of the Christian sisters. They started claiming me as their own.

Any heterosexual male professor who has taught over a certain period of time will usually see females students that he is attracted to, and if he says he doesn’t, he is either lying or he is gay. Now just because one may be attracted to the opposite sex, does not mean that he or she has to act on his or her feelings. The professorship at times can be a dangerous occupation of temptation.

Not Wise To Become A Teacher

In our present day and time, I do not believe that becoming a teacher is a wise decision, for the following reasons:

(a) As a teacher one will not be able to use his or her gift of teaching, due to the fact that he or she is going to be bogged down with a lot of paper-work, as well as spending a great deal of time in meetings;

(b) Our society as a whole does not respect teachers, and this can be seem in the salaries they make;

(c) Due to attending so many meetings and doing a great deal of paper-work, being able to actually teach will be very limited and when one does teach, he or she will spend a lot of time preparing students to pass the state exam. Therefore, many teachers are teaching to the test;

(d) There is not any classroom civility in many schools today, especially in large metropolitan areas, where the kids are practically raising themselves. Students curse teachers out and even threaten some of them and they sometimes even vandalize their vehicles, and what is so bad about it is, parents either condone or make excuses for their actions;

(e) Administrators and school boards make hasty decisionswithout teacher input, such as cutting programs and closing down schools abruptly;

(f) Everybody and their mother think that they can tell a teacher how to teach, but yet such individuals themselves have no teaching experience and school administrators are more willing to take their view over the teacher’s perspective;

This analysis may sound both negative and pessimistic, but young college students who are inspiring to become teachers, should consider the above factors before going into this profession. If teaching is one’s passion, he or she may want to consider the professorship.

On The Down-Low Brothers In The Church

When I was coming up, if a heterosexual male or female were not married at a certain age, he or she would be labeled as either being gay or a lesbian. However, this is not the case anymore, due to the fact that so many married men are on the down-low, meaning married men who have affairs with other men. This is becoming very prevalent in the church, according to many of it’s leaders. Some women are beginning to turn their spouses in to their church pastors and leaders, while others are keeping it a secret, because they are so embarrassed to let others know. Even some of the church leaders are a bit shaky, like Bishop Eddie Long. A few sisters at the church where I attend are currently dealing with this issue. I would like to say to all the down-low brothers, inside and outside of the church, ” don’t go and date or marry a woman, messing up her life, as well as putting it in danger. If you want a man than get you a man, and I will say the same to closet lesbians, who have husbands, but knowing in their hearts, they possess sexual desires for young women. Stop messing up people’s lives.”

Educational Politics: Is A College Degree A Scam?

It should be a federal law that institutions of higher learning must find jobs for their graduates in their respectable disciplines. It is a shame that students spend all of their money as well as tax payers fundings, to attend these institutions but still cannot find work. These colleges and universities are making millions of dollars off of these students and when they graduate, many of them cannot find decent work within their respectable fields. Which causes me to raise the question, ” is a college degree a scam ” ? If colleges and universities do not find work for their graduates, then I believe that a college degree is not too far from being a scam. Students take out several loans in order to acquire an education, and when they graduate several of them are unemployed, or they have mediocre jobs that they did not go to school to be trained for. Many of the core curriculum classes have nothing to do with the professions that most of these students are going into, but instead, are in the curriculum just to make money off of students. Believe me, I should know, since I hold five degrees. Let’s think about it for a moment, if we are so serious about education in America like we pretend, why are educators paid peanut salaries from pre-K, up to the college level? Also, what about the proliferation of online schools and classes popping up all across this country? Who is on the other side of the computer? Who cares? As long as we can make a profit. A great deal of these online educational institutions, are nothing but diploma mills. The point that I am making here is that education in the U.S., is more about making money than about individuals truly being educated and productive individuals in our society. It is all about the money. We tell individuals to go to college and acquire an education, then we turn around and give individuals who constantly have illegitimate children, free houses and food stamps, who make no effort to get an education, and thus, undermine those who work hard to get their college education. What a scam. Is getting a college education really worth it today, or is it a waste of time? Some will argue that a degree is still valuable, while others will argue that it is not. I will let you be the judge.

Heart Broken/Broken Heart

The sad thing about a broken heart is that, one cannot do anything about it. The heart broken person must go through a great deal of emotional pain. Some get over it quicker than others. Nevertheless, the pain is still real. When one’s heart feels like it is aching, and chest seems to constantly be on fire and one’s stomach feels like it has knots in it, along with constantly being upset, the ” Broken Heart Syndrome “, has taking place in that person’s life. People’s hearts are broken for a variety reasons. The lost of a love one, due to death, a love relationship that did not workout, or a betrayal of a family member or best friend. Regardless of how an individual’s heart has been broken, being heart broken can emotionally drain an individual and it can wear the person out. It can also affect one’s health. I have even read a few studies whereby a person could actually die from being heart broken, because of the affect that it has on the body. Many physicians say that the symptoms of a broken heart are similar to that of a heart attack, such as chest pains, the shortness of breath, fatigue and dizziness. A broken heart cannot neither be taken lightly nor as a joke. One type of heart-break that most of us have probably experienced, is the breakup of a girlfriend or boyfriend or a husband or a wife. Especially when that person has lefted you for someone else, and it does not matter whether you are 22 or 62, the pain will still be there. Now I know that their are a lot of individuals out there, who think that after a certain age, one’s heart cannot be broken romantically, but this is simply not true, because love does not stop at a certain age. A broken heart can happen at any age, and those who either have gone through it, or who are going through it, know exactly what I am talking about. When an individual is going through a heart-break, after his or her mate has left them for someone else, making the follow statements to the heart-broken person does not help:

(a) There are more fish in the sea;

(b) I could have told you that he or she was no good;

(d) When you first introduced me to that person, I could tell that he or she was not right for you;

(e) I am glad you two are not together anymore, because you were involved with a loser;

(f) Maybe God is trying to tell you something;

(g) This shall passed too, things happen in life for a reason.

The above statements really do not help the person who is heart broken, in fact such statements may exacerbate the pain that the individual is going through, because logic is dead when feelings are involved. The only solution for one with a broken heart, is to allow time for heal one’s heart, and I am not speaking just from head knowledge, but, I have had my heart broken a few times in my life, and believe me, it is no joke.
