Politics: Nothing For The Middle-class

It really doesn’t  matter which political party one votes for, if he or she happens to be in the group, referred to as the ” Middle Class “. Those who are in the middle class make too much money to receive federal assistance, that certain individuals get to enjoy at the economic bottom. While at the same time, not making enough money to enjoy the “American Dream”, like the rich or wealthy at the top. The Democratic party usually fight for those who are dirt poor, while the Republican party, fight for those who are very wealthy or rich. Where does the middle class stand among America’s two major political parties?  The answer is, nowhere. Neither the Democrats nor Republicans, seem to care about the dwindling middle class in America. In fact, I truly believe that the U.S., as a nation is trying to alleviate its middle class. The Democrats, are nothing but a bunch of poverty pimps, who are always telling the poor, what they are going to do for them, by taking money from a man that is working, and, giving to a man that can work but won’t.  While the Republicans, on the other hand, are constantly helping the rich get richer, and many of them are in the back pockets of the big multinational corporations. Who is for the middle class? It is not the Republicans, nor is it the Democrats. It is not the rich, nor is it the poor. It is not the blacks, nor is it the whites. It is not the Asians, nor is it the Hispanics. It is not the Christians, nor is it the Muslims. It is not the heterosexuals, nor is it the homosexuals. No one is really truly for the middle class. Therefore, the middle class must be for itself. Those of the middle class, can must no longer, put their faith in America’s two-party system, because both political parties have sold them out. The middle class must organize an interest group, which will address, their political and economic concerns, and then, it really will not matter which political party controls the White House or the U.S. Congress.  Those of the middle class must develop an interest group on the national level, with state and local chapters across this nation, and, they need to forget about the two party system in the United States, because the two party system have definitely forgot about them. Which group is considered by many, to be the middle class in America?  Those who make an income between $40.000 to a $170.00 dollars a year. This is the group who pays the bulk of the taxes in the U.S., political system.

This is a very intresting article, because it has proven that the middle class is like an orphan in our society. No one is ready to look out for the intrest of the middle class, not even the two party system in America. The middle class are fighting alone for their survial, They also strive to pay taxes from their hard earn money that is not even enough to take care of their needs, especially in this tough encomic times. I also love the idea of creating an intrest group that will represent the middle class because this will go a long way to reduce the financial burdens that are been placed on the middle class.

I most defenitely agree with you, I consider my self to be middle class. I don’t make enough to pay for a private insurance for my two kids and in the other hand I make to much to qualify for state insurance (SKIP). So guess what, if my kids get sick I have to pay cash. Every day I pray that they don’t get sick or brake a bone because that would put me in the hole. Who is watching over us, aparently no one. Is really hard to go grocery shopping and watching people with two carts full of food. Here you are making sure you only take the necessary items to keep your budget in balance. But, you are behind this people after 20minuntes of the cashier scanning their items they pull the white plastic card like nothing. I seen some spend almost $300.00 in groceries like nothing. It makes me so ungry because I know that like many other tax payers I’m the one paying for those groceries. The story does not end there, you walk outside and you see the same person driving a better vehicle than you. We ned a political group that can control that, and that will look for out for our interest and fight for us to be able to get some benefits

  3. The middle class is always undermined; it’s never taken into consideration. The reason for that is that we don’t speak out enough. The poor people always make, it known that they need the help they argue, that they can’t find a job, ect. The middle class should make them selves known to the politicians and won’t be taken advantage of, the middle class is as much hard worker and the rich person, while the poor person is slacking off and just taking the welfare living off of it. The government is at fault of that they don’t show any encouragement to go out there and work, they have it easy. While the rich already has it made, they don’t have to worry much besides keeping their business running. While the middle class is hard working person and cant benefit from the benefits the government gives, and at times they are in need. For example, financial aid there are students who go to my collage who are middle class, but have to work extra because their parents can’t afford to pay their tuitions, yet they tried to get financial aid but were denied because they made to much. I don’t understand that, there are student who want to learn they go to learn, no kids, not married, no drug use. Instead that money is given to welfare to people who at times don’t really need it. My opinion is that its about time the middle class get rewarded and recognized.

I agree with the Bow Tie Professor, there is not a representative for the middle class and unfortunately there will not be one soon. The middle class will have to continue to fight to stay afloat and at least somewhat ahead of the game. Honestly, I am not surprised that the middle class is almost forgotten, we do not cry out for government help and we do not ask for tax breaks. I am part of the middle class and I will continue to fight for the things I have.

  5. Anthony Smith says:

The middle class is the class that pays the majority of taxes. Not only do to the size of thier class but because of thier percentage. The lower class get credits and assistance from the tax money of the middle class. The higher class gets around taxes because there money makes money ie: capitol gains tax is lower than a middle class working tax. The tax system is set up to tax the middle class on all of thier wages for example social security tax is only effective up to a certain amount. Which benifits the super rich but it ends up taxing all the income of the middle class. Poor people also get around taxes because of all the generous credits they recieve. I feel the need for a new tax system as the one we have now has been set up through lobbyists and backdoor political deals to benifit certain groups of society. I believe the fairest tax would be a consumptions tax. If everyone pays without exception, if you buy more you pay more, if you buy less you pay less. The tax is based upon what you consume. It seems more fair to me because rich people buy more than poor people and everyone would therefore be taxed equally based upon what they consume.

  6. Maribel Borjas says:

I like this article a lot, it explains a lot about how the classes are shown. I also think that the middle class does have to pay and get punished while the higher class slacks off. But I feel that just like the 3rd class gets help so should the middle class. The middle class needs to step out and talk loud on what they think is right instead of letting them run over them.

  7. Jansel Mejia says:

I agree 100% with what you have stated. The two major political parties fight for the highest and lowest classes. But what happens tho middle class? It is just left there waiting to hope that someone to help them and offering great benefits and opportunities. Middle class people want that same help that the two major parties offer to the wealthy or to the poor. I believe the middle class sometimes get the “end of the stick” meaning that they are ones who pay a great part of tax, while receive no help what so ever. Other people should not be benefiting from middle class tax. A middle class tax payer do what they are told but nothing in return is giving to them. Someone shoud stand up and face these two major parties and open their eyes, and see how they are leaving people behind. MW 7:05

  8. PAULA PETERS says:

I consider those of us in the middle class to be in the “damned if I do, damned if I don’t” income bracket. Because we earn what is deemed to be sufficient wages to supoort ourselves we are not seen as

  9. PAULA PETERS says:

I consider those of us in the middle class to be in the “damned if I do, damned if I don’t “income bracket. Because we earn what is deemed to be sufficient wages to support ourselves we are not seen as needing any of the perks(tax breaks) allowed other classes. Instead we are the group who gets to afford the “rich” to get richer and the “poor” to continue to lag.

  10. Robert snowton says:

I Agree 100% the middle class in today’s society is left out like the a red headed step child . The middle class in America is overlooked in so many different ways I can’t wait for someone to really come along and reward us for all the triumph we been through in America history. Look what happens at tax time ! We middle class Americans get left out and it’s time for a change o wait Obama is in office !

  11. Austin Bell says:

The way Democrats work is somewhat taken advantage of. Many of the people on Social Welfare or people that get assistance from the government, get rewarded for being lazy. In class you speak of not wanting your money going to go to someone who can work but refuses too, so they can “eat, sleep, and make babies” and not get a job. You said that the Republicans are for the rich and wealthy, and the Democrats are for the poor. So there’s no room for the middle class, but the middle class is Independent basically. We pay the most taxes, and still have money to pay for necessities. We are what keeps this nation together because without us, the rich couldnt sell there products to the consumers, the poor could not depend on us for our taxes.

  12. Hector H. says:

Would we still be considered the middle class if we were taking government handouts? Would the middle class lose it’s identity if the hands outs were to include them? I do agree with heart of the message but I tend to disagree with the need for support. This is what makes the middle class distinctive and unique. The middle class is a working class, a class that does have the get up and go. I believe the government should stop trying to eliminate the middle class and start to enlarge it. In both other classes you have people who feel entitled. The poor people feel they should get government and private support for their suffering, while the rich feel they should be supported more because of their higher social status. However, the middle class gets up every morning straps on the work boots and goes to work. We wait for no handouts and expect none. We are a group of people that decided we were going to make it in this world one way or another through our own means.
I do agree that I do feel left out and unrepresented in Washington. I do believe that the power in this country lies within the middle class. I also believe that we as the middle class should organize to get better representation. However, I do not believe the middle class needs to be tended to like the poor and the rich. I believe that the poor and the rich should be treated more like the middle class. If the poor were given less in subsidies and tried to do more through their own will then I am most certain the poverty class would sharply decrease either through process of elimination or through their own hard work. However the rich people need to stop nickel and diming the government for all sorts of tax breaks to keep their status. I do not believe they should have to pay more because they make more but they should have to pay the same rate everyone pays. I hardly think this will break them or drop them down to the middle class.
I do think the government is trying to enlarge the poverty class because it’s make them easier to control than those that are educated and have money. We all know that most people living in poverty are less educated than those that have money. When was the last time you saw a graduat of MIT living in a shanty town next to the border because they were struggling? If they are there, they are there of their own free will.

  13. Aldrin Tan - GOVT 2302 says:

Great article. Our two party system for our modern nation is no longer enough to fill all the needs of its people. Before the margin of middle class citizens balancing out the scale of the wealthy vs the poor was often well maintained. But now its seems the middle class has now become their own in this nation, and our voice is lost between the two party’s I agree that it is time for a new political party to rise and defend those in the middle.

  14. t.s. says:

Well I say let us middle class withdraw all of our tax contributions and let the government figure out where to get the funds to pay for all of their projects. If we are not represented then why should we pay? Whatever happened to no taxation without representation? I pay taxes on everything except for the air I breathe and yet I can’t afford to buy food or clothes for my wife and three children because I gross too much – all-the-while illegal aliens get state funded assistance (medical and nutritional) while not having to work or pay taxes. I’m tired, and I don’t want to take it anymore. If we all stop paying is the government going to arrest the entire middle class of America.
I wish there were more jobs, more benefits, and more common sense in this country then there is now. Why have so many of our mom and pop shops disappeared? Who opened the door to let our industrial and manufacturing jobs leave our country – which a good portion of the products made overseas get shipped back here to be sold for a greater profit margin to some of the same people that no longer have the industrial and manufacturing jobs. Why did we let this happen to our once great country? What are we going to do about it?
I don’t believe another political party is going to fix our problems. The two that currently exist have already done enough damage with their current ideologies. I think that we need to bring work back into the USA. If a company wants to sell its goods here, then the goods should be manufactured here. Also, everyone should work/contribute in some way – no more free rides or lazy excuses for those perfectly healthy to hold down a job. Also, we need to not let unions go crazy and run our industries to the ground with their ridiculous wage and benefit demands.
Taxes — why can’t there be a flat tax for everyone. Let’s say federal at 10% across the board for everyone including businesses, and state at 10% across the board for everyone. Taxes should be taken out of our wages only (i.e. profits). No more sales tax or luxury tax or any other tax. Then the local and federal governments will have to learn to manage within their means just like the entire population of the USA. If they can’t then the current representatives are obviously not the right people for the job.
Just one last thing. Why isn’t everyone else angry enough to make a change – to stand up to the abuse (Change we Believe In my @&$).
