The Political Lies About Affirmative Action

One of the biggest lies concerning affirmative action, is the notion that it gives unqualified minorities jobs. This misconception has been constantly proliferated in every aspect of America’s society. The true objective of affirmative action has been to give qualified blacks and other minorities a random change of being selected for a job. Historically, in the U.S., when a person of color would apply for a job, it did not matter whether he or she was qualified or not. As soon as the employer would notice that the applicant was not white, he or she would automatically throw the person of color’s application in the trash. Affirmative action came into existence because qualified blacks and other minorities were being rejected for jobs in which they were well prepared. Before affirmative action, qualified blacks and other minorities had no chance of being selected for a decent job, and, if they happened to luck up and get the  job, they were last to be hired and the first to be fired. The big lie about affirmative action, is that all whites are qualified for their jobs and blacks and other minorities are not. The big lie about affirmative action, is that, when one walks into a business and observes blacks and other  minorities working there, such individuals are only working there, because of the color of their skin, and not because of their credentials. Such misconceptions, has caused a great deal of hostility towards African Americans and other non-whites, in the workplace. When whites Americans are not able to experience the so-called, ”American Dream”, they are quick to blame blacks and other minorities for their shortcomings. This historically, has been the case all through America’s political history. Adolf Hitler did the same thing when he used the Jews as scapegoats when Germany faced a great deal of inflation. Those in power love to see middle and lower class whites, blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, fighting for the crumbs from their tables. This is why they have used the mass media as well as the other agents of political socialization to project affirmative action in a negative light. While the masses are fighting among themselves, those in power are getting richer and richer, while at the same time, looking down from their Ivory towers, laughing at us. What the average American fell to understand is that, there will be no white, black, brown, red, or yellow unity. Why? It is very simple. A white man making $200,000 dollars a year, does not think like a white man making minimum wage. A black man with a Ph.D, does not think like a black man with a G.E.D. . In other words, there are other factors which would prevent total unity within any group, such as class, education, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, occupation, and the most obvious, race. Affirmative action programs are more likely to be found constitutional, when they are adopted in response to a past history of discrimination, when they do not bar whites or men from competing or participating, and when they serve an important political, social, or educational objective. The myths and misconceptions, concerning affirmative action has cause a great deal of racial chaos and animosity across this nation.
