Immirgration
The solution to the problem of illegal immigration is very simple. Make it easier for individuals to become American citizens. However, once an individual or group gains U.S. citizenship, they must abide by America’s political and social culture. Too many groups come to the U.S. , and, expect for America as a nation to adapt to their culture. They come to the U.S., with their religions and political world views, and, expect the nation as a whole to cater to their way of life. Can I come into your home, and, tell you what I am going to do in your home? I think not. When I come to your home, I must abide by your rules and regulations, or I must leave or get out. It should have never gotten to the point in this country, whereby we have signs written in both English and Spanish. Individuals and groups, are arriving to the U.S., with a dislike for Christian values and beliefs. What bothers me the most about such individuals or groups, is that their gods whom they claim to serve didn’t do much for them in their own countries, and that is why they came to America in the first place. If their gods didn’t do anything for them in your own countries, they probably won’t do anything for them in this country either. For persons who were born and raised in the United States, to be against others who want to become American citizens legally, such individuals are nothing but hypocrites, unless of course, they happened to be Native American. Everyone else migrated to the U. S., except for African Americans, who were forced to migrate to this nation against their will. America’s political culture has been one of the melting pot, in which different racial and ethnic groups have come to this nation in hope of finding better opportunities, that were not available to them, back in their own homelands. However, when individuals or groups come to the U.S. , and decide that they would like to stay, they should go through the legal process and necessary channels in order to become American citizens. Illegal immigration is wrong, and, I cannot see how others can justify people breaking the law. In other countries around the world, if they find out that a person is in their territories illegally, that individual will be thrown into jail and later extradited out of that country. Mexico would be a good example of this. If illegal immigration is breaking the law in other countries, why would others think that it should be allowed it in the United States? If illegal immigration is against the law, then it is against the law, and, when others who happen to be in authority condone it, then we get into the issue of, which laws do we keep, and, which laws are OK to break. The U.S., should make it easier for individuals to become American citizens, with the notion that such persons will adapt to America’s political and social culture, and not the other way around.

I do agree with you. I truly believe that illegal immigration is wrong. We shouldn’t have to adapt to immigrants because they are stepping into our lands and they should respect that. I feel that when the immigrants come to the U.S. they feel as they rule our country and try to take over. I also think that they should try to control the borders better and try to help avoid illegal immigrants from coming over here because the problem with illigal immigration is spiraling out of control. The U.S. needs to figure out how they are going to control this situation before even more difficult problems occurs.
I agree with what youre saying about how the United States should make it easier to get the citizenship. Most immigrants would be ok in obeying and adapt to american culture since most of them already do that. Most of them pay there taxs and try hard to learn english although there immagrants, but then there alot of discrimination in this country which makes it harder on the person to try to do the right thing. because once you show urself youre in risk of being deported and losing youre family which no one whants. but i belive the people can make it work and it will all be ok.
I hate that people from mexico come over to our country and try to take over our culture. Yes, they have rights as a human and as a free citizen to practice free speech and religion, but when I know that half of the mexicans in the city are illegal, it makes me angry because they are being disrespectful. I feel that many people come to America for a better life, but they do not really respect our lands the way they should; they come here and never get a green card, and never learn english and try to change our culture instead of adapting to ours. I cannot say how many times I have driven down the highway and seen a sign or billboard I cannot even read because it is in a different language and every time I ask myself “what country am I in??” Now all of this may seem a little harsh, and I am certainly not racist or against people coming to our wonderful country, but when they abuse the freedom of this land, it makes me question our authorities have to say and how they feel about people abusing our countries freedom. I think the border patrol should be kicked up a few notches! and Go Arizona!
i certainly do agree with most of your ideas on immigration to the United states. it is indeed important that they adapt to our cultuere here and not the other way round. how ever i do not agree that everyone that wants to come to our country be granted citizenship, because believe me there a millions of people that want to come live in this country for good, and i am talking hundreds of millions, if this happens i dont know how exactly America is going to handle that economically. plenty of jobs will be lost too and unemployment rates will rise through the roof. i think that they should give people citizenship in moderatiopn because it is good to do everything in moderation.
I agree with what you are saying. If the U.S. made it easier to obtain citizenship then we probably wouldn’t have a lot of the problems that we are experiencing today. It is very hypocritical that foreigners come into our country and expect us to make changes for them, when they know that if an American went into their country they wouldn’t make any attempt to try and accommodate us and our lifestyle. If they have to ask for certain accommodations then that more than likely means that they shouldn’t be here. Hopefully the U.S. can find a solution to the immigration problems.
I agree with this article very much. I dont not think we should adapt to people that want to come and live in our country. It should be simple to come and get citizenship in our counrty that would make a lot of unnecessary spending towards border patrol go away. Immagrants should know how to adapt to our culture as americans. I do believe that america has a lot more opportunities that other countries.
I agree as well that if immigrants come to the U.S. they should learn to speak our language an adapt to the American lifestyle in some ways, without compromise who they are an their culture. However many americans I feel like at times play both sides of the fence with this topic. When its convient we are passionate about controling the border and wanting make immigrants go through the right steps to become citizens, whereas business like allowing these things to slide to get things like cheap labor from immigrants as well as other benifits of trying to get around uncle sam by doing things under the table
I agree with Jairo in that immigrants do try their best to acknowledge the authorities, by paying their taxes and learning english. I believe that immigrants coming into this country should not be considered a wrong doing. Generalizations upon immigrants show them as people who “stepping into our lands and try to take over” that is not true, the way I think is that people are ignorant in that they only view the “negative” aspects of the situation. They see immigrants as being people who come here to “take over” when they really come here for the “American Dream”. Society doesn’t see the fact that immigrants like citizens of the united states do the same. They shop at the same stores, they do everything a citizen does. Why should they be deported back when they have children that are left here alone, that is wrong and shouldn’t be done. I do agree that illegal immigration should be stopped to a mild extent but not to a full extent.
I somewhat agree with this. My only problem is your concept on making the naturalization process to easy. I think that if a person would like to become a U.S. Citizen then it should come in the form of two steps: One, if he or she is of legal age then he or she should serve a minimum of two years in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Second, upon completion of their enlistment they may be allowed to take a naturalization test which would not only allow for their naturalization but, also the naturalization of their immediate family. As far as people not eligable to serve then, other forms of “Rights of passage” wiould have to be followed. If the individul does not complete his or her enlistment then the individual would be sent back to their country, its really that simple. It all comes down to what the individual is really willing to do for his or her freedom.
I agree with you as well. I think illeagl immigration is wrong. We have made it where anyone can come over and we will adapt to them. Everyone that is a citizen in this country pays taxes and speaks English. It is not fair to the rest of us that our tax dollars are going towards illegal immigrants because they do not want to become citizens. Although I do agree that America should make it easier to become a citizen and show immigrants how to adapt to our country.
In partial agreement, I do think that illegal immigration is wrong yet I know that there are situations where a person will immigrate without much consent. I say this because I had a friend in my sophomore year of high school who was an illegal immigrant and in the process of becoming a US citizen. It was not her choice to come here but her parents. She had to adjust to American life and I can imagine how tough that must have been, however I think that it is the youth that are more inclined and willing to “adapt to America’s political and social culture” instead of expecting a change in the American way. Holding onto traditions, values and beliefs is by no means wrong, that’s what is wonderful about America. You are free and you can have your own mind. However, I still feel firm that one must try to adjust to our culture and society instead of forcing us to cater to them. You come to America, you can respect our ways and our country.
I agree 100% with this article.Amercia is a melting pot with many diffrent cultures and values. We indeed need to make being an american citizen easier for others especially if they’ve been in this country for a prlonged amount of time this is how this great country came to be founded. In turn we should have a severe penealties for illegal immigrants. We shouldnt adjust or compromise for the sake of others. When indviduals come to this country they should accommodate.
I concur with most of the respondents that illegal immigration is wrong and should be enforced. What I don’t agree with is how those rules are enforced against those who are here legally and illegally. The broad idea that all brown colored people don’t know English, are ignorant/stupid and should be either cutting your grass and building your homes is absurd. There are good people of all nationalities and I see the point being made that we should not bend our political and social culture, but if this was the case then we all should be doing what the American Indians do because they truly are the original inhabitants of this land and we are all immigrants if we speak in this sense. America was built on different cultures meshing and fighting to become what we are today as a whole and we are continuing to morph.
Immigration is a tangy debate that will always be in the mass media such as racism, stock markets and new MTV Cribs, but most people must realize that even thought they areforeigners to our country tha they are stiil humans. Most people are like get ona plane, boat, swim or do whatever to get back to your country because we don’t want you here. I feel that most people act this way mainly because they are afraid of change. I realize tht if French people come to the United States of America, that we shouldn’t have to start buying gas with Euros, but we can adapt to their culture, but dominantly they must adapt to us. The boundaries that Americans are making towards immigrants is unmoral, unlogical and unhuman. Jesus didn’t band people who weren’t native from Jrusalem and Israel to hear the Gospl, he welcomed all people of age, race and gender and the yadapted to him. Americans must make the changs easily adaptable because n on doesn’t want to become a citizen of a nation that doesn’t support or help them become citizens; which is why becomin a citizen of any county, the USA, Mexico, France, etc…it should be a simple process.
Illegal immigration is unlawful and wrong!! As a Mexican American I believe that this is a major issue that the US government has to deal with. One way of dealing with it is the Arizona immigration law which has been around for ages but it’s just now on paper there. Texas asks for proper documentation to and I mean it’s our right as Americans to have the need to be safe. I too believe that people should not think there god will help here cause god does not protect criminals. Obtaining citizenship is easy only a test and a few hundred dollars the problem is the people. Bilingual signs are bad I mean its for tourism purposes Mexico has English signs and its not a problem.
I agree and disagree with what bowtie professor because immigration is a very debatable topic. I agree that if a person immigrates to our country he cannot expect us as Americans to follow his or hers customs this is America not the country you immigrated from. I am at a draw in illegal immigration because there is always two sides to an argument I understand that illegal immigration is against the law but sometimes people are forced to break the law and immigrate to this country because of their families, refuge from tyranny, and a better life. I believe that the legal way of immigration to this country should be revised becasue the system we have now is outdated and horrible.
Yes there are a lot of people who are not from this country who want to be part of this country. But America should be proud that so many people want to come to our nation. They should make it easier to become a legal citizens in this country. It’s not right to say that one person can have the freedom of religion and speech and tell the next person they can’t. Once they are made citizens of this country, they should be granted the same freedoms, which is why they want to be here anyways! Besides, who’s to say that the next person with bright ideas to save the environment or save our government isn’t going to be someone who was just granted immigration status?
I understand that the United States wants to keep the land safe for everyone and also having all the boarders highly protected. Immigates some that I know have tryed to come to this country right without breaking the law but there own government makes it diffcult for them to do that so they have no other chose than to come to U.S. one way or another. But if the U.S. made it easier to become an American citizen many people could go back and forward in going to their country because they mainly just come to be able and support there family. Now we also have Americans saying that the immgrates are taking there jobs, if they really wanted the jobs it would be easier for themto have a job since they have SSN but they really don’t try in my opinion they just want the wellfair and have the government support them. Maybe one day things would be better for everyone.
Immigration is something that has been around forever, and most likely will never end. As daughter of a legal U.S. citizen, and an American resident this ussue doesn’t hit too close to home, but when you have family and your constatly watching them struggle, it hurts to hear “all they’re doing is taking our job’s”, “oh look at that wet back” and I know most of the time it’s easy to critize others on their “status” untill it’s your family going through the struggle just to make ends meet. As if leaving your country, your loved ones, and basically your entire life behind, wasn’t hard enough but to have to adjust to a new country where no one speaks your language, there’s an entirely new culture, and your walking arond being called names, and are denyied for things that many native born Americans take for granted, its hard! Don’t get me wrong, im not saying just let everyone illegally in the country with out there being consequences, NO! Just make it easier, and more affordable for the immigrants already here to become LEGAL citizens, and once everyone else in their own countries see’s how easy it is, then they might stop crossing the border and begin their paperwork instead. Once thats done, let them worry about adapting, that shouldn’t be anyone else’s business! In this day and time though it is really hard for us as a nation not to have to adapt to others needs, not that we necessarily have to but it brings us all together.
Just look at the voilence in Mexico. I can not imagine where so many bad people came from, to terriorize the good people of Mexico. THen you have the stock market/ Wall Street crash. THey are bad people with a G Greed. They did what they always have done on WALL STREET MAKE FUNNY MONEY WITH YOUR MONEY THEY SHOULD USE THEIR MONEY WHEN THEY MAKE AN INVESTMENT.
There are people that contest that immigrants that enter this country illegally are just trying to provide a better life for their families. Some people believe that we should provide for these illegal immigrants, and that it is the charitable thing to do. They believe that these illegal aliens are just trying to escape poverty and persecution in their own country, and that we, as a Christian based country, should show them compassion and understanding. However, while Christians do believe in charity and compassion, they also believe in accountability and self improvement. Christians believe that there should be consequences for ill gotten gains.
Many Americans, such as myself, believe that these illegal immigrants should have to go through the proper procedures in order to enter this country. If they wish to remain here and take part in the American Dream, then they need to apply to become American citizens, learn to read and speak English, get a job, pay taxes, and become a useful member of our society.
The law is the law, and it should apply to everyone that enters this great country.
These laws should be enforced by ALL law enforcement agencies and not just the INS. America needs to take notice of what AZ is doing and recognize that they are just trying to fix a broken system.
I do believe immigration is wrong but immigration comes in all form of races blacks, mexican etc but the majority is placed on mexicans, if they would do the required things to become legal it wouldnt be such a problem but don’t jsut come over and try to take over the world, because the hispanics do come over and take a job where we as americans have $12 $13 hour joibs they come over and do it for $5.75 thats taking away from our parents. I think they should just legalizing it in the way they legalinze eveything else but have limititations on it.
I agree that immigrant should have to adapt to our culture that we have in America. Specifically Mexicans, they come in packs and try to take over everything. Also a lot of them do not go through the proper learning to drive a vehicle. Then they don’t have insurance< so if the hit you, they can’t speak English or have car insurance so that leave you stuck with a damage car and a lot of money to pay to fix it. I understand why they what to leave Mexico because it is a wild country with a corrupt government, but that doesn’t mean they can just come over here and live off other people. But then again I do not agree with that they should make it easier for individuals to become an American citizen because we don’t want just anybody to be able to come over here. Crime and drug trafficking is big in Mexico now. We don’t want those guys to come in America and add to the crime that’s happening her.
How difficult is it to become a legal citizen? I mean really? They have to take a test, pay some money and file some papers. How much easier can it be? No test? No money? I do not think it is a difficult process at all. I talked with my co-workers whom are Mexican and El Salvadorian, and they said it is not that difficult at all. They said the biggest issue is usually the money, but, if you really desire to be a legal citizen, then the money should not be an issue. I have no problem with people migrating to the U.S., if it were not for my father-in-laws parents migrating i would not have my wife. If you want to come to the U.S. for a better life then come on, but do it legally. I do not like the fact that Arizona is being sued for a totally legit Immigration Law, but states like Claifornia and Florida are ok for knowingly harboring illegals and getting away with it. All Arizona is doing is enforcing a federal law that the Federal Govt. has ignored and done nothing about for far too long. I wish Texas would adopt a similar law, but it is an election year and i guess Rick Perry does not want to risk his job that much.
If you are coming America, you need to learn our way of life our values and our laws, i am not saying forget your own culture and only know ours, i am saying learn what this country is all about. We are not going to treat you like they did the native americans and force you to become “American”. But have respect for our country and what we stand for.
Amnesty is not the answer either, it happened with G.W. and all that does is tell the illegals, if we hang out long enough and not get caught then they will give us legal status. But on the flip side deportation would be almost impossible and really expensive for the taxpayers.
Its funny how the Mexican President was all up in arms when Arizona passed that law, when if i was there illegally i would bearrested tossed in jail and deported with the swiftness, and that goes for any country. We are the only country that seems to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration, and that is not right at all. We have become a soft PC nation that does not want to offend anybody and is afraid of hurting someone’s feelings. We as a country need to get it together and lock down the borders, north, south, east and west and figure out what to do with the ones that are already here.
I hope something can be done about illegal immigration because it is getting out of hand.
I agree with you for the most part. They shouldn’t expect people to adapt to them, but also it’s good to keep a little culture of them alive, but i don’t mean as making other people do it too, just saying. There’s just 3 things that stood out the most to me:
“It should have never gotten to the point in this country, whereby we have signs written in both English and Spanish.” Why not? Those are both the primarily (excuse my spelling if it’s wrong) languages you hear on a daily basis and it practically is the second primary language here. Also, this might go back to making others adapt to your lifestyle etc., in the small towns, say like China town which is a great example, they have it in their language.I’m pretty sure if there was more and more and more people talking another language there would be signs and options for that language too.
“If their gods didn’t do anything for them in your own countries, they probably won’t do anything for them in this country either.” This one just made me giggle a little, mainly because it’s true, BUT also, you never know =X
“For persons who were born and raised in the United States, to be against others who want to become American citizens legally, such individuals are nothing but hypocrites, unless of course, they happened to be Native American.” THIS IS SO TRUE! Alot of people are saying to get out of their country that it’s theirs and blah blah blah when they’re not even native American. Yes ok they are citizens and everything BUT they really weren’t here first. the only ones who can say that this is their country, their land is like who you said, Native Americans. But i don’t think they’ll say that ’cause they’re nice and cool people =)
Now onto Mr. Ryan Brown. I so disagree with you. You also forgot time and all the mess they have to go through just to be here legit, it seems very simple to you, pay the fine, take a test, you got it! -_- No. Depending on your situation and everything it is a totally different process. ALSO, not everyone wants to become a citizen, they still have the option of being a resident. There’s a small percentage (I would imagine by just talking and getting to know people) is truly here because they want to become an American, but it’s more of a bigger percentage of the people who just become citizens just for the benefits you get from being a citizen, which later to find out they weren’t even able to get. Like I said, it just depends on their situation. If it was a simpler process to at least become a resident, I’m sure they would go and do that. Imagine, you’re here illegally, someone comes and takes you away. You don’t have family back in your home country, you have your life here, your fmaily, your job, EVERYTHING, but then suddenly it gets taken away. You knew what you were risking and getting yourself into once you got here. But really? Losing everything you ever worked hard for in just an instant? No thank you!
Also, pretend you LOOK like an immigrant, pick any race you so wish, I know I don’t know you but just say you were Hispanic, Indian, Asian ANYTHING and well of course you look like it, like for Mexicans we say “tienes el nopal pintado en tu frente” (or at least something along that line) basically meaning we can tell you’re Mexican. What if someone just stopped you because of how you look and just take you away because you look like you’re here illegally. How is that fair? How can they say “oh you look illegal so I’m arresting you” and just basing it on how you look? I mean seriously… how can someone just go on about their way and say that just because of how you look? I think that should be made ILLEGAL of what Arizona is doing. This country is “Land of the Free, and the Home of the brave” These people that are coming here through their own bravery of being caught and practically risking everything they have just to come to freedom, something that they didn’t have back in their own country. Now I’m not saying America is perfect, but in some eyes, and probably their eyes, it is the perfect place to either (what most of them do here) support their family, start over, or basically because there are better opportunities here than in their home country.
Seriously? Getting out of hand? Seems like the government is running out of ideas of just basically what to do with them. I guess they don’t see that most of them are here to make a living and just go by the screw ups that mess everything up. The media can be blamed for this. Usually if it’s a crime they point out that they are illegal, but when do they point out the ones who is doing far beyond what a citizen does? You don’t hear that at all. Why? They don’t want to put their lives out there and risk being detained, deported, thrown in jail all of those things. Also, I doubt that they want to be the center of attention and receive glory. Take students for example, there is a great percentage of them not having papers and they are going to school to become something in life, and are very involved in school. Only thing is, they are afraid of one day, everything is going to be taken away and they are going to have to start over just because they get detained or deported or whatever the case may be. Just waiting for the DREAM Act to come on thru so they don’t have to worry anymore!
And then also! How many times do they change the law of immigration? How many times have they not made up their mind of what to do? They raised the fine/cost. That is definitely not something you can easily obtain. They make an effort to be here legally, but all these people do is just make it harder and scarier.
They shouldn’t make it so hard for them. Especially since their first primarily reason of even being here is to change their lives.
I agree with the most part. many ppl do try to fiz there papers. but to tell u the truth many people come and try to fix but some are scared bc they came ithout papers. they do try to learn english and adapt to the united states. but right now it is very difficuot bc they are taking people and spliting up the family.
I agree with the most part. Many people do try to fix there papers. But to tell u the truth many people come and try to fix but some are scared because they came without papers. They do try to learn English and adapt to the United States. But right now it is very difficult because they are taking people and splitting up the family.
I agree in making it easier for immigrants to become citizens, because in doing this it solves many problems. It takes years for barely an application to make it to the people and then get accepted. Or I think at least make it easier for illegal students to become citizens, because many just think of the adults, but what about the kids who had no choice of coming and are now stuck in a situation they didn’t even want to be a part of. I also agree that illegal immigration is wrong, but I am no one to judge why they came here that way. People do wrong things sometimes, but we’re no one to judge other people’s doings. In becoming citizens though, immigrants should adapt to America’s culture. Though they shouldn’t just have to “beleive” only in America’s culture. I think they should believe in just about anything they feel like, just abide by America’s rules. America is known as international, where there are many races living among each other as neighbors, so they should be allowed to live like they did in their home country, but again live by and follow America’s rules. For the spanish and english signs, America didn’t have to adapt it could have just left it that way but instead they settled. Immigrants didn’t ask America for international language signs. And in some other countries they have english signs like in parts of Mexico, but that’s not because they’re adapting to Americans. Immigrants should though know the basics of reading, talking, and writing english, but they shouldn’t be scorned if they know how speak, write, and read in another languge along with english. “Once an old lady came into my dad’s donut shop and got angry when she found out my dad was hispanic. In the donut shop he welcomes everyone with a Hello, Hola, and Gonichiwa. He likes to make people feel welcomed, but she took it the other way and said, “you should only speak english. this is America and in America you speak english,” I was very angry when she said that, but part of me knew she was right. This is America and people should speak english……. but still some don’t, but people shouldn’t be rude to others who can’t. Some immigrants would love to know how to speak english, but like the saying goes “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, some can’t learn. As for the people who say get out of “our” country, I agree that they are hypocrites. The only people who are allowed to say that are Native Americans, and even they are sometimes ostrisiced. All I’m saying if America wants to “kick out” the imigrants, everyone should go except the Native Americans and let them decide who can go and who can stay.
I agree with you for the most part. Thousands of people need a drastic change in their lives and America seems to be the only country with many opportunities. Granted, that coming to the U.S illeaglly is against the law and breaking the law comes with consequences..but what about the helpless familes who sturggled to save every penny to come to the land of opportunities? This is where we decide “which laws do we keep” and “which laws are OK to break.” Now for the immigrants adapting to our culture rather than us adapting to their’s, i completely agree. People want to become a citizen of the United states but yet they do not speak nor understand english. People want to serve in the U.S military JUST to gain citizenship these days. I do not understand why you would want to serve the country which you were not born in..but lets not lose topic…Immigration is an issue America is always going to face. We can bring new laws or even build a “Great Wall of America…”Immigrants who are ment to come to the U.S are going to find ways to come. So lets focus on the bigger problems America is now facing and let immigration handle itself.
i agree with what you said that illegal immigration is wroung. most people come to this country just because they have hope they can make it here, but they later find out that without been a citizen it will be a very hard way. their are lot of people that come to this country and lose thier jobs just because they are illegally in this country. to become a citizen of this contry, you would have to pay, take a test and go though lots of things before they could even grant you your citizenship which i think this is wroung. it should be made easy for people to be a citizen or find an alternative for them so they could live a better life without suffering.
I totally agree with you on immigration laws. It is not the duty of american people to adapt to the different cultures and norms of the immigrants rather it is the other way around. But i do not agree with the fact that granting citizenship should be more free because that will only increase problems for the american government. the present system of citizenship is not bad where one has ample time to study and understand the different rules and regulation of the american people. Illegal immigration should not be allowed even if the people come here for jobs. They should only reach American soil by the legal means. It is not right for American citizens to pay taxes and the illegal immigrants to enjoy it without paying any taxes. Not only that illegal immigrants are a source of cheap labor thereby reducing job opportunities for the American people. tighter security should be applied to the borders rather than sending soldiers to fight other unwanted wars.
When people plan to migrate to another country it is their duty to understand the implications related to migrating and adjust to it rather than blaming the government for their faults,.
I agree at some certain point, but not completely, everyone who lives in this country is an immigrate no mater if they were force. This land we live in belongs to the Native. First of all many mexican were forced out of their land and now their considered immigrants. That is really unfair cause who are we to say what is wrong and what it not. United States is made up of many cultures and just ONE!! For example New York has alot of cultures in a small land. The immgrants have already adapted to the American culture. We see day to day the news of how many immigrants struggle to go to school and fight for the right to learn english and other fields. If other people could bring their cultures and langauage why can’t the immigrants. Do we not have chinese restraunts or pizza Inn this is a culture from other places!! NOT AMERICA!! The early settelments felt the need to obtain all the land and felt superior to others, even until this day. Many disagree with immigration im not fore it but in a way we all play a part in the immigration. We have friends that are immigrants employees. co-workers and we dont complain when we buy cheaper houses, or when they fix our car!!
I disagree with this because America is a country made up of many different cultures and that’s the best part about it. Each time you go to a different state you here english but in a different acccent. America is diverse and you will never see it as just one culture or one language. Immigrants who come here illegally are not always bad people acctually most of them are just families just trying to escape the wrongs of their country so there is no need to put them in jail just for breaking the law because every human has their rights and most immigrants are poor and if you throw them in too jail and kick them out when they are a nice and innocent family is unjust. There are also signs in other languages not just spanish. if a family that is living here gets caught and they are illegal i think that they should be looked at first and if they cause no harm and they are good they should be given a chance to become legal because most immigrants who are illegal are just scared to sign up for citizenship. America is diverse and this is what makes us such an amazing country and no one can change that.
Over the past few years the immigration of other peoples to the United States has increased dramatically. While America is a free country and open to immigration so that those people may have the opportunity to live life freely and to the pursuit of happiness, there must be some restrictions to maintain order. First of all, immigration should only be allowed when it is done legally and to the consent of the U.S. government. If illegals are continually hopping the borders of the U.S. bad things will happen. For example, when people illegally enter a country it shows that they are willing to do whatever it takes to live their life however they want to. So when they make it into the country crime rates increase and the standard of living decreases all of the sudden as a result of many many people doing whatever they want to live “better”.
Secondly, when peoples come from other countries come to our homeland they should abide by our laws and rules or else be punished duly for their crimes or otherwise kicked out of the country. When I enter somebody’s property I respect the host’s position of authority and abide by his or her rules and regulations. So when Hispanics, for example, immigrate to our country they should be willing to learn our language and abide by our rules. They should not enter our schools and expect there to be all Spanish classes so they can learn. No, they come and learn English like the rest of the country and learn to speak OUR language in OUR country. We should not stoop to their every whim by posting signs and TV channels and the such in English and Spanish. We are in America, and therefore should speak English and not be pushed into having to learn a second language to get around in our own country.
A couple years ago my family moved to Brazil to be missionaries and spread the word of Jesus Christ to the Brazilian people. When we moved there, we learned their language (Portuguese) and did not expect Brazilians to learn English to be able to converse with us. And when out in public, our family spoke Portuguese just like everybody else and abided by their government’s rules and regulations.
This is how our country should be today. Absolutely zero tolerance for illegal immigrants, and when immigrants do move to our country, that’s great! We’d love to have you here. But when immigrants do move here, please abide by our laws and rules and learn to speak our language because after all we are in America and us Americans are not obligated to learn Spanish or any other language to be able to get around in our own country. May God bless America!
