A Political Culture Of Insincerity
No one seems to be sincere about anything anymore. The Christians talk about the love of Christ, but many of them never show it. Politicians and educators, discuss better ways to educate students, while at the same time cutting budgets, which would benefit students, such as laying off teachers, and, thus, causing the student to teacher ratio to increase. We have a nation of students who claim they want to go to college, but hate to read anything past a text message on a phone. They come to the college environment ill prepared, such as coming to class on examination day, without pencils, pens, paper, or scan-trons, but yet, wanting to receive high grades for mediocre work. We have politicians who make laws in our political system, and, then they turn around and break the some laws, that they want the masses to adhere to. Insincerity has caused many inside and outside our political system, to be like hamsters in a cage. The hamsters are constantly moving by turning the wheel, but they are not going anywhere. As a result, several of these politicians, are leading many astray. We have multicultural programs in colleges and universities cross America, in order that they might help to alleviate prejudice and racist attitudes, while at the same time allowing individuals to be over such programs, who really do not want the programs to succeed and accomplish their intended objectives. Most of the U.S. , citizenery prefer to be entertained, than to fights for their constitutional rights, and become politically astute. I saw a study which showed that more Americans call in and vote for individuals on, “American Idol”, than they do for candidates in the electoral process. The insincerity in our political culture, has caused many Americans to suffer hardships and pain, like many of our teachers across this nation. The actions taken by Scott Walker, the Repulican governor of Wisconsin, is a direct result of apathy and insincerity, first of all, among teachers themselves, and the American populists in general. Many Republican governors across the U.S. , are anti-union, and they are working hard to alleviate the middle class. If teachers, along with other educators would stop being so passive, and hold those who claim to represent them more accountable, such as the Federation of Teachers, the actions by Scott Walker of Wisconsin, would not have taken place. Educators in general are passive, from pre- k, all the way up to the big universities, except for some social scientists. Social scientists, have a tendency to be a little more radical, than most groups. Nevertheless, the U.S. , citizenry must stop being apathetic, and insincere about major political, economic, and social issues. Finally, as individual American citizens, we must stop having the attitude that if it does not affect me, I will not get involved. This is how those in power are able to divide and conquer the masses, because in the long run, everything they do, will affect us all.

In today’s society talk is cheap! People are quick to talk about what needs to be done or what they want to happen. However when it comes down to actually doing somrthing about the change majority of the time people tend to look the other way and ignore whats happening. On the other hand, some people are quick to judge and focus a lot of enery and time on foolish stuff. If todays society and goverment talk the talke and the walk the walk alot of people would be leaving a less woried life.
I strongly agree with what was written. People are saying that they believe in things, but they are not living up to this beliefs. Obama has said things like he wants us to take our education more seriously, and yet, thousands of teachers are being laid of in the Dallas County. It is just sad that we can not afford to have teachers who are helping the future of students today.
The fact that people are voting more on ‘American Idol’ than they do on elections just saddens me. This is our country! We should take it very seriously and not worry about who the next “top” singer is going to be.
American citizens need to think about our country and what is happening to it and they need to stick to their beliefs.
I have to agree Mr. Juhree not enough of us are involved in our political views, enomic wise, or education. We tend to see it as a pass over, like you said it does not bother me, why should I care. THank you for inspiring me to not give up, and let it just happen. I had lost hope in helping immigrants get the respect they desrve, not really respect but this nation was based in immigration. It was found my immigrants from all over the worl not just mexico. Im not going to be a pass over, I have to start doing something.

Govt 2302

This is by far the most controversial yet political argument that I have come across and completely agreed with. The government is within every organization and politics are the ordinary people running them. What people say and do are completely too different things. This is where the saying “you can walk the walk but can you talk the talk” comes to play. Everything that is said and done within any community in the United States of America will affect us – you, me, everyone.. somehow. People, including myself need to step back and realize that every little debate and/or argument about or within any class poor, middle, elites WILL affect the nation as a whole whether it is now, next week, or in 10 years. On another note, we need to stop being so damn hypocritical. Me being a Christian a firm believer in God see others at church that make me not even want to go to church on Sundays or join the small groups within the weeks because of the people that are in and run them. Those people can be the first at church when the doors open yet the wildest ones at a “get together”. How am I supposed to learn and strengthen my walk in that environment with the knowledge I have about those types of people? If I supported that then wouldn’t that make me a hypocrite in my faith as well? Teachers and the politics in the educational system need to step it up a notch and unite together as one. Cutting budgets and teachers is never going to solve any problem. The ratio of students to teachers should be more closer together. There should be budgets to increase the different types of learning as well. Some students do not and will not understand any one teacher the same. There needs to be enough of different teachers within the same subject to accommodate the learning abilities of different students. Or better yet more teachers need to care and want to stay after class or school so that each student can get the individual help that they need to succeed. A stronger helping hand making sure the students brought their books as well as supplies each and every day instead of letting them borrow or even skip out on the assignment with no consequence would have to be a big change as well as a must. A little help can go along way and if this was done in the grades that lead up to high school then the college experience would be a little not easier but more routine. Now as for politicians and the law makers. I could go all day on the system and its corruptness. The same ones that makes the laws are the first to break them. Then again they are the elites and can not be touched so it really does not matter what they do.. Wrong. The people of classes have a voice and will be heard if they just got up off the couch put down the chips and tried. The concern needs to be less on voting for American Idol and more on voting for local as well as nationwide elections. Moral is.. we need to stop bitching about what isn’t being done and be the ones first to do something.
Professor Bowtie may be a little more radical than most other social scientists but it does not mean that the social scientists, as a group, do not have those that are extremely insincere not only to the public, but to themselves. It is not always that education changes people for the better. A good and sincere person is always going to be a good and sincere person no matter the person’s level of education. I believe that every group, community, village, city, and or nation, has people that are very insincere. Goodness starts from the type of family one comes from and the type of heart one has. Everything originates from within us. Scott Walker was voted into office by some of teachers and union members he is hurting now and that is why a voter must learn to study whom he or she votes for and not to rely on speeches.Make it your duty to know more about those you vote into office.
I believe that this insincerity is breed by laziness. Many people in society go through life and never want to achieve. They don’t want to better themselves and if they do it through false promises. These individuals have broken so many promises that it’s nothing to them to break another. They do not have a moral code and because we do not hold them to a higher moral code they tend to do what they want. In the end they are just here to make it, not make something of themselves.
We as a very blessed nation and as very blessed citizens have got to stop leaving what needs to be done now in the present and for the future up to others we think are more affected by whatever issues and stop hiding behind our political and moral insecurities. First of all, God is in control of everything in this life, yours and mine. If we Christians, myself included, honestly live what it means to be a Christian= Christ follower, all would be seeing a better world because it is in the example we set forth, in our actions that people notice a sincere change for this world but not by our wisdom or might, only that of God’s. Christianity is experiencing persecution now because many who call themselves a Christian in America project a wrong image; they are projecting themselves instead of God in them which have given Christianity a sense of hypocrisy, which is wrong. As far as I’m concerned with the insincerity in popular culture, the world in which we live in as come to be known by many as their heaven but in reality it is to prepare us for heaven when that day comes. Politicians should start acting the part due to very important positions given to them in the image of the people because honestly they are one the first people everyone does look up to in promoting change for the masses. Granted, everyone can do their own part in promoting change and should get out of the mindset of complacency that the government will take care of everything which has yet to be sufficient in today’s administration. Every single person has a part to play and a purpose that needs to be fulfilled.
This article speaks nothing but the truth, as harsh as it sounds when he talks about the different situations but at the end its all true. You can’t talk about how close you are to God and not show any interest in going to church, praying or showing that you really love God. If your a politican you can’t say your going to do something and all of a sudden do the opposite thing (even tho thats what they all do) or you can’t be a student and college and pretend your going to do good in a test when you have no idea what its about because you never studied. If we want something done we actually need to do it.
Gov. 2301-4500
America has become desensitized to what is happening to our country. People do not take politics seriously and often times never vote. They don’t see the reason to vote for their Governor, or Congress Representative because they see no result on how it directly affects them. It’s frustrating to see how many people are willing to vote for the next “American Idol” but not for the future President. If we as citizens do not start taking our political voting seriously our nation will continue to hurt and become weakened. Promises no longer mean anything, and talk is cheap. As voters, we must hold our representatives to a higher standard, and make them keep their word. If we do not take voting seriously than how can we expect our representatives to take us seriously?
I agree with your statement about how insincerity and personal agendas have clouded our society from doing what is right and just. Its something you can’t eliminate from society as a whole however. Since every individuals actions are defined from personal life experiences and personal and interpersonal conditions and situations; there will always be someone being insincere its just how society works. The problem is when these people find their way to power, and no one has caught em. I think it should be the governments duty to do a background check from the start before their name is even on ballot. And that goes for any other time when a figure is being elected whose decisons trickle down to the very bottom. If we can’t rely on the sincerity of those in charge it will be impossible for any progressive and positive change to happen without some radical action.
