Political Freedom: Accepting Yourself

So many people spend their lives trying to be accepted by others, such as family, friends, associates, co-workers, church members, and employers. However, what people fail to realize is that first, they must accept themselves.  So many individuals spend a great deal of their time, trying to gain acceptance from folks who will never accept them in the first place. The only persons that an individual or group should try to gain acceptance from is, God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Three distinct persons in one God. Other than that, it is a waste of time trying to get the approval of man. Now, don’t get me wrong, or misunderstand what I am saying. I am not saying that we should not respect or honor authority, because we should. We must give respect and honor, to where it is due, such as our parents, employers, church and civic leaders, and the government as a whole. What I am talking about is, individuals who run around, jumping through hoops for everybody and their mother, in order that they might gain their favor. First of all, such persons must understand that no matter what they do, there will always be people, who do not like them. For example, if you are black, or Hispanic, and are highly educated, stop apologizing for your education. African Americans (especially black males), and Hispanics, you don’t have to prove to others within your race that you are not an Uncle Tom or a Coconut. Especially those of you, who were the first ones to become college graduates in your family. Remember, there is no salvation in neither man nor woman. True freedom comes, when one accepts his or herself. Think about it for a moment. Do the people, who you are trying to please, put food in your mouth, clothes on your back, or shoes on your feet? Do they provide a roof over your head? Are they there for you, when you are in need? Do they help to build you up, or do they tear you down? Do they make spiritual, emotional, social, and financial deposits in your life, or are they always making withdrawals or taking from you? If your answers to these questions is no, along with the fact they are constantly tearing you down, and always have their hands out, trying to get something for nothing, such persons are leeches, and you don’t need to be around them, in any shape form or fashion. Unfortunately, many of these leeches are among our own family members. Accepting one’s self, gives one political, economic, and social  freedom. One no longer has to live up to the illegitimate rules and expectations that society places on him or her . Also, when individuals accept themselves , others can no longer keep them in  bondage, nor can they control or manipulate them anymore. I will close by saying “accept yourself , it is a great and peaceful way of life.”
