In our present day and time, I do not believe that becoming a teacher is a wise decision, for the following reasons:

(a) As a teacher one will not be able to use his or her gift of teaching, due to the fact that he or she is going to be bogged down with a lot of paper-work, as well as spending a great deal of time in meetings;

(b) Our society as a whole does not respect teachers, and this can be seem in the salaries they make;

(c) Due to attending so many meetings and doing a great deal of paper-work, being able to actually teach will be very limited and when one does teach, he or she will spend a lot of time preparing students to pass the state exam. Therefore, many teachers are teaching to the test;

(d) There is not any classroom civility in many schools today, especially in large metropolitan areas, where the kids are practically raising themselves. Students curse teachers out and even threaten some of them and they sometimes even vandalize their vehicles, and what is so bad about it is, parents either condone or make excuses for their actions;

(e) Administrators and school boards make hasty decisionswithout teacher input, such as cutting programs and closing down schools abruptly;

(f) Everybody and their mother think that they can tell a teacher how to teach, but yet such individuals themselves have no teaching experience and school administrators are more willing to take their view over the teacher’s perspective;

This analysis may sound both negative and pessimistic, but young college students who are inspiring to become teachers, should consider the above factors before going into this profession. If teaching is one’s passion, he or she may want to consider the professorship.

A great deal of members of the Republican party, claim to be conservatives who are God fearing Christians, that believe in good family values. However, from my studies of the G.O.P., over the last 30-years or so, I have noticed that their voting records have been anti- black, Hispanic, Asian, and poor white. They claim to be big Christians, but yet, most of them are certified racists. They claim that they believe in family values, but in the last three-years, Republican elected officials, have constantly been in the news for committing adultery. They say that they are anti-abortion, and want to bless the baby in the womb, but once the baby gets here, they curse it on its way to the tomb. Meaning, they fight for the unborn baby to live, but once the child is outside the womb, they support public policies to disenfranchise the child by making it difficult for him or her to experience the ” American Dream “. This is definitely a party of hypocrites. They claim that they pulled themselves up by their own boot-straps, but this is a lie, because no one got started without some type of governmental assistance. Every multinational corporation, railroad company, airline and bus industry, all got started with some type of governmental assistance. Even multi-billionaire Bill Gates, received some type of governmental assistance, before he became a corporate giant, and still currently receives tax breaks from the government. The Republican party are also notorious for playing the race card. Has anyone noticed how the Tea Party crowd are about 99% white? They are about 99% white for a reason, and that is, they hate to see people of color prosper, over good white folks. Sure they will have a few token Sambo Negroes like Michael Steele, who by the way, was later ousted by the Republican party from being their chairman. The political shield of destruction, is when individuals hide behind slogans, such as, “conservative” or “Christian”, in order to cover up their true identity. The vast majority of Republicans, along with the Tea Party crowd, are nothing but a bunch of racists, who claim to be consevatives and God fearing Christians, which is a lie, within itself. If they really knew Jesus Christ, as they claim, they would not be so damn racist. They cannot stand to see black and other minorities move up the socioeconomic ladder, and through much of their actions, one can tell, that they are more racist then Christian. What the Republican party and the Tea Party crowd, need to stop doing is, using the bible to justify their racist attitudes. All through America’s political history, when whites were not able to experience the American Dream, they have always found ways to blame minorities for their shortcomings. This is the exact same thing that Adolf Hitler did, when Germany faced 300% inflation. He blamed the Jews, and used them as scrapegoats. White Americans must stop blaming minorities, every-time that they can not experience the American Dream. They must look up and see who is really pulling the purse strings, and when they do, they will realize, that it is not the black, Asian, or Hispanic, that is holding them back. It is the rich political, economic, and social elites. The same-thing also can be applied to African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians, who believe that the average white is hold them back. The average white is not holding anyone back. It is the super rich, who are constantly trying to keep all of us down. To some, the rich are referred to as the “Elites”. To others, they as known as the ” Insiders”. If Karl Marx were living, he would probably refer to them as the “Super Bourgeoisie”. However, most of us know them as the ” Illuminati “. I will close by saying, ”whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and others, stop letting the Illuminati make fools out of us”.

How long shall the average American citizen, be ignorant when it comes to race relations in the U.S. ? Time and time again, the American citizenry, has allowed those in power to play the race card. As a result, we have powerless people fighting powerless people. If one were to study the political history of race relations within the United States, he or she would notice that those in power, have always played the race card, in order to keep the less privileged classes fighting among themselves. Too many Americans have the tendency to see political, economic, and social phenomenons, only in terms of race and, thus, ignore other factors, such as class, ethnicity, religion, education, age, gender, or occupation. The war is not between black, brown, yellow, or white. It is between the haves and have-nots. Unfortunately, so many Americans fell to understand this. As long as the elites, can keep the masses fighting for the crumbs from their tables, they will continue to stay in power, and exploit the uneducated and poorer classes of the U.S., citizenry. Below are seven big lies that have been told or projected to the American public by certain groups in power:

(a) Illegal aliens from Mexico, are taking jobs from American citizens;

(b) Blacks and other minorities, are taking jobs from so-called good white folks, and the positions that they hold, they are not qualified for them. They only acquired them through affirmative action;

(c) What is good for corporate America, is good for America and its citizenry in general;

(d) Corporate America, is the number one employer of U.S., citizens;

(e) If one cannot, or does not experience the, ” American Dream ”, someone else, is to blame;

(f) It is the government responsibility, to take care of the poor, on a long term basis;

(g) I became rich or wealthy all by myself, without absolutely no governmental support or assistance.

First, for those who believe that illegal aliens are taking jobs from Americans, guess what? The jobs that illegals do, most U.S., citizens would not do them, because many Americans, perceive such jobs to be beneath them. Secondly, the task of affirmative action, was to give qualified blacks and other minorities jobs or careers, but through the mass media’s propaganda, the correct image of affirmative action has been distorted. Third, what is good for corporate American, is good for the American public. If this statement were true, then why did we as Americans, have to pass the Wagner Act (1935), Norris La Guardia Act (1932), and the Clayton Act (1914)? All of these Acts, dealt with the protecting of workers, from corporate elites, who wanted to exploit them. Corporations are only about profit, and human beings are dispensable, at any time, moment, or place. No, what is good for multinational corporations, is not necessarily good for the American people. Fourth, by far government is the number one employer of the American citizenry, not corporations. Remember, the U.S., political system has over 80,000, governmental entities. When I say government, I mean the federal, state, county, and local systems. Fifth, if I do not experience the ” American Dream “, it is someone else to blame. Most Americans blame the wrong individuals or groups for their shortcomings. Before we start pointing our fingers at others, we must first consider, did we do all we could to make our dreams come true. Then we must consider other factors such as, were our dreams realistic, or were there any financial barriers, and the list could go on and on. Sixth, it is the government’s responsibility to help it’s citizens out, but, it is not the government’s responsibility to take care of the poor or anyone else for that matter, on a long term basis. Seventh, and finally, no one got started without some type of governmental assistance. The notion that I got rich all by myself, without absolutely any governmental assistance, is a lie. The airline and railroad industry, got started with governmental assistance, as well as the bus companies, such as Greyhound and Trailways. Mulinational corporations currently receive tax breaks from the U.S. government, and they will continue to receive them, as long as they are in existence. The point that I am making is, we as average American citizens, must stop seeing everything in terms of race, and, we also must stop letting those in power make fools out of us.

The death of Osama bin Laden, came as a surprise to many individuals and groups around the world. When President Obama made the announcement, to the world that bin Laden had been captured and killed, many rejoiced, while others were in shock. The death of Osama bin Laden, was one major campaign promise that President Obama kept. He was able to accomplish in two-years, what George W. Bush, could not accomplish in eight. Of course unless, Bush was not really trying to catch Osama in the first place. Nevertheless, Osama bin Laden is now history. Many of the right wingers in the U.S., wanted president Obama to show proof of bin Laden’s death by showing pictures, in which he refused. I believe that this was a good judgment call on behalf of President Obama, because it would have been a disgrace, to have pictures floating around showing some individual, who had been shot in the head. Also, such actions could of had a backlash on America by stirring up anger in the Muslim community, who might have felt that the U.S. had gone to far by exploiting the issue. The death of bin Laden, however, does not mean that that the United States is free from terrorist threats, but it does send a message to future terrorists who might have ideas about blowing up certain parts of America. Nevertheless, Al-Qaeda more than likely, will continue to engage in terrorist activities, and the U.S., must understand that as long as its presence is in the middle east, Al-Qaeda will continue to fight to alleviate both it’s presence and influence. However, there are a few questions, that I often ask myself. First, is it the responsibility of the United States, to try, and police the entire world? Second, why does America constantly get involved in these senseless wars under the rubric of so-called Democracy and freedom? Afterall, there were wars in the middle east way before the U.S., ever was a nation. Third, who died and left us in charge? Fourth, why do we as a nation, have the tendency to think that we are so much better than different peoples around the world? If America is really involved in these wars, to protect our freedom and national security, then that is one thing, but, I believe that we get invovled these wars to fight for the interests of the elites around the world, which consists of powerful politicians, corporate managers, and high ranking military officers, and in the end, the poor who fight in these wars are the ones who suffer the most. If Osama bin Laden, was truly responsible for the September 11th, attacks on the twins towers, than justice was served. Now, we all shall see how much longer the U.S. will stay in Afghanistan since bid Laden is no more.

One could clearly see the difference between the disruption that the earthquake caused in Japan, and the disruption of America’s Hurricane Katrina. The Japanese people, however, responded to their situation totally diferrent from the Katrina crowd. They were well organized, peaceful and quiet, and they showed a great deal of civility. There was not any violence or looting. The Japanese people were totally civilized. They showed kindness to one another, and, I did not see Japanese men running around beating up folks and acting like a bunch of fools, as was reported by the media, during Hurricane Katrina. Now quite naturally, some would argue that the mass media only showed the negative aspects of Katrina, so that they could make blacks look bad. I do not believe this, for two major reasons. First, I had several Katrina survivals in my American Government and Texas Politics courses, and, many of them were eyewitnesses to a great deal of atrocities that took place, and, they shared some of those horror stories with their fellow classmates. Secondly, I remember the earthquake that took place in Haiti, back in 2010, I both observed and heard reports about black Haitians, running around fighting, looting, raping, and killing, and this was not just the American mass media, reporting such actions, but other nations were reporting the same thing as well. The question that I would like to raise is, ” why can’t people of African descent, come together, in true brother and sisterhood, and act like civilized mature adults, and not like a bunch of wild hyenas ” ? It was a shame how many black Americans and Haitians, carried on, during these two major diasters. Their actions were similar to that of a pack of wolves. The Katrina and Haiti occurrences showed just how savage several of these individuals were. They acted like a bunch of laughing hyenas, running through the jungles of Africa, or like a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off. Yes, I am very much aware, that their are several intellectuals and scholars, who will make excuses for such ungodly behaviors and actions. But when will all of the excuses stop? Excuses, excuses, this is all I hear, people making excuses for not doing what needs to be done. Yes, I am also aware that there was a class factor in the equation. I know for example, that blacks who are highly educated and possess a little wealth, do not act like blacks who are uneducated or who are under-educated. Educated and wealthy blacks, for example, would have dealt with the situation in a total different manner, than blacks who were in Katrina and those who experienced the earthquake in Haiti. One thing that I have constantly observed in every metropolitan area in which I have lived, and that is, how educated upper class blacks, keep their neighborhoods much nicer, than blacks who are uneducated, and who are apart of the unskilled working class. When I would ride through lower class black neighborhoods, folks would be hanging out playing dominos, and loud music would be blasting all over the place. I saw the same thing in poor white, Asian, and Hispanic communities. But quite naturally the music would be different. No, I am not saying that upper class blacks are better individuals than lower class or uneducated African Americans, because that would be ludicrous. The point I am making here is that, the vast majority of people, that many of us observed in the mass media, during the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the earthquake in Haiti, were not the educated or wealthy African Americans or Haitians. They were the poor and the uneducated, and the poor and uneducated are pretty much the same in every racial group, except for a very few instances. World leaders and others must understand, that blacks are not a monolithic group of people, and they are just as diverse as any other racial or ethnic group, within our world.

No one seems to be sincere about anything anymore. The Christians talk about the love of Christ, but many of them never show it. Politicians and educators, discuss better ways to educate students, while at the same time cutting budgets, which would benefit students, such as laying off teachers, and, thus, causing the student to teacher ratio to increase. We have a nation of students who claim they want to go to college, but hate to read anything past a text message on a phone. They come to the college environment ill prepared, such as coming to class on examination day, without pencils, pens, paper, or scan-trons, but yet, wanting to receive high grades for mediocre work. We have politicians who make laws in our political system, and, then they turn around and break the some laws, that they want the masses to adhere to. Insincerity has caused many inside and outside our political system, to be like hamsters in a cage. The hamsters are constantly moving by turning the wheel, but they are not going anywhere. As a result, several of these politicians, are leading many astray. We have multicultural programs in colleges and universities cross America, in order that they might help to alleviate prejudice and racist attitudes, while at the same time allowing individuals to be over such programs, who really do not want the programs to succeed and accomplish their intended objectives. Most of the U.S. , citizenery prefer to be entertained, than to fights for their constitutional rights, and become politically astute. I saw a study which showed that more Americans call in and vote for individuals on, “American Idol”, than they do for candidates in the electoral process. The insincerity in our political culture, has caused many Americans to suffer hardships and pain, like many of our teachers across this nation. The actions taken by Scott Walker, the Repulican governor of Wisconsin, is a direct result of apathy and insincerity, first of all, among teachers themselves, and the American populists in general. Many Republican governors across the U.S. , are anti-union, and they are working hard to alleviate the middle class. If teachers, along with other educators would stop being so passive, and hold those who claim to represent them more accountable, such as the Federation of Teachers, the actions by Scott Walker of Wisconsin, would not have taken place. Educators in general are passive, from pre- k, all the way up to the big universities, except for some social scientists. Social scientists, have a tendency to be a little more radical, than most groups. Nevertheless, the U.S. , citizenry must stop being apathetic, and insincere about major political, economic, and social issues. Finally, as individual American citizens, we must stop having the attitude that if it does not affect me, I will not get involved. This is how those in power are able to divide and conquer the masses, because in the long run, everything they do, will affect us all.

” What about the poor folks” ? ” What are we going to do for the poor in America” ? I have practically heard these two questions most of my life. Such statements are constantly made by politicians and social activists. However, I would like to know, when will poor people, get up and do something for themselves? Or when will they get up and do something, for somebody else? This is what I would like to know. Instead of constantly sitting around expecting for others to always do for them, the poor must start doing things for themselves. First of all, we must understand, that poverty is a mentality, and not just a social and economic condition. If the poor would change their mentality, then they would come out of poverty. According to Professor Yecats, people are poor due to the following reasons:

(a) They come out of families which do not value education, and many of these families, downplay the importance of education;

(b) They do not have any get-up- and- go about themselves;

(c) They come out of environments which foster negative attitudes;

(d) They have been made to believe by the agents of political socialization, such as the family, church, schools and education, and the mass media, that they are victims of society, and, therefore, view their situation as helpless;

(e) Many of the poor, do not perceive themselves as being poor, and, therefore, feel that there is no need to change their situation. In fact, many of them have become comfortable in their poverty.

The two major programs which were designed to alleviate poverty in America, were Franklin D. Roosevelt’s, New Deal, and Lyndon B. Johnson’s, the Great Society: War On Poverty initiatives. Such programs were also designed to have ethnic and racial equality, to develop decent housing, and to have a greater sharing of the wealth in America. By far the New Deal and the Great Society programs, were the peak of modern reform liberalism or the social welfare state. Tons and tons of money has been spent, and still is today, being spent on programs to get rid of poverty. But yet, poverty still remains a blight on the record of one of the richest countries, (the United States) in the world. By some estimates, the U.S., has transferred well over trillions and trillions of dollars to eliminate poverty out of its territories. However, poverty still exist within its parameters. Why? It is very simple. As stated earlier, poverty is a mentality, and, not just a social and economic condition, and too many intellectuals and politicians fail to understand this. Change the mentality of the poor, and they will come out of their poverty. Money alone cannot bring individuals out of their poor conditions.

It really doesn’t matter which political party one votes for, if he or she happens to be in the group, referred to as the ” Middle Class “. Those who are in the middle class make too much money to receive federal assistance, that certain individuals get to enjoy at the economic bottom. While at the same time, not making enough money to enjoy the “American Dream”, like the rich or wealthy at the top. The Democratic party usually fight for those who are dirt poor, while the Republican party, fight for those who are very wealthy or rich. Where does the middle class stand among America’s two major political parties? The answer is, nowhere. Neither the Democrats nor Republicans, seem to care about the dwindling middle class in America. In fact, I truly believe that the U.S., as a nation is trying to alleviate its middle class. The Democrats, are nothing but a bunch of poverty pimps, who are always telling the poor, what they are going to do for them, by taking money from a man that is working, and, giving to a man that can work but won’t. While the Republicans, on the other hand, are constantly helping the rich get richer, and many of them are in the back pockets of the big multinational corporations. Who is for the middle class? It is not the Republicans, nor is it the Democrats. It is not the rich, nor is it the poor. It is not the blacks, nor is it the whites. It is not the Asians, nor is it the Hispanics. It is not the Christians, nor is it the Muslims. It is not the heterosexuals, nor is it the homosexuals. No one is really truly for the middle class. Therefore, the middle class must be for itself. Those of the middle class, can must no longer, put their faith in America’s two-party system, because both political parties have sold them out. The middle class must organize an interest group, which will address, their political and economic concerns, and then, it really will not matter which political party controls the White House or the U.S. Congress. Those of the middle class must develop an interest group on the national level, with state and local chapters across this nation, and, they need to forget about the two party system in the United States, because the two party system have definitely forgot about them. Which group is considered by many, to be the middle class in America? Those who make an income between $40.000 to a $170.00 dollars a year. This is the group who pays the bulk of the taxes in the U.S., political system.
