Men, Money, Power, And Sex
Money, power, and sex seems to go hand and hand, with a lot of highly profile individuals in our society, especially when it comes to men, and, it seems that this phenomenon overlaps to every profession or trade. The question that I would like to raise is, ”can a man be faithful to one woman” ? I believe that a man can, but, not without a great deal of challenges. In America’s political culture, I believe as men, we are conditioned to be whores. Even from little boys, up to our adolescent years, we are constantly taught by our culture, to go out and sow our wild oaks( meaning in street terms, go out and get your freak on). Now by no means, am I making an excuse for infidelity, because an individual always has a right to choose. However, when individuals live in a society, which glorifies sex, there are going to be a great deal of problems. America, has made sex out of a god, and, as a nation, we wonder why we have rapists, child molesters, incest, individuals who are addicted to pornography, infidelity, homosexuality, and other sexual sins. Sexual overtones, are everywhere in our society, especially in the mass media. The mass media is a very powerful agent of political socialization, because it engages in mind control, negativism, and, political and economic manipulation. When I say the mass media, I am not just talking about, CNN, FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, and other major networks. I am also referring to, every motion picture show that one sees, television shows, books and recordings, music videos, magazines and journals, newspapers and billboards, and of course, the inter-net. When one studies world civilizations, men of power and wealth, always appear, to have problems, with their sex drives, and, being committed to one woman. Even in the bible, this seems to be a reoccurring theme. King David, committed adultery with Bath-sheba, the wife of Uriah, the Hit-tite (II Samuel 11: 1-5). King Solomon, had a problem with women. He had seven hundred wives and princesses, and, three hundred concubines, and in his old age, he allowed his women, to turn his heart away from God (I Kings 11: 1-13). Samson, was a man who destroyed one thousand Philistines, with the jawbone of an ass, but, it took only one woman, named, Delilah, to bring him down( Judges 15: 14-16, 16: 1-31). The only way, that a man can control his sex drive is, by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, can set a man free from, lust, lasciviousness, fornication, homosexuality, masturbation, and, pornography. I am pretty sure, that, most men (including myself), have struggled, or still is struggling, with some type of sexual addiction, but, Jesus Christ, can keep one from falling, if one wants to be kept.
If one has been observing the mass media, one will notice that a great deal of highly profiled, men have gotten themselves in trouble, due to infidelity. From politicians to professional athletes, from talk show hosts, to ministers, men of power and influence, have gotten themselves in trouble, trying to satisfy their sexual appetites, outside of their marriages. For years, even up to our present time, sex scandals, have made major headlines, in the mass media. Below are a few examples:
(a) Tiger Woods, a professional golfer ( infidelity).
(b) David Letterman, late night talk show host ( infidelity).
(c) Eliot Spitzer, former governor of New York ( infidelity).
(d) The late, Steve McNair, former pro- football player for the Tennessee Titans ( infidelity ).
(e) John Edwards, U.S. Senator, from North Carlina ( infidelity).
(f) Kobe Bryant, N.B.A. player for the L.A. Lakers ( infidelity).
(g) Michael Irvin, former Dallas Cowboy football player and sports talk show host ( infidelity).
(h) Bill Clinton, both former governor of Arkansas, and President of the United States ( infidelity).
Quite, naturally, the above are only a few examples of prominent men who have had problems, being faithful to their wives. However, as being a male myself, I know how difficult it is, being faithful to one woman, and, even though, I am not married, nor, have I, ever been married, at times, I was tempted, to cheat on my girlfriend, or the woman who I was dating. Any heterosexual male, if he tells the truth, whether he is married or single, will at times, think about being with another woman. Some men will think about it in thought, others will think about it, in words(meaning, talking about it with their homeboys), and, others will actually do it, in deeds. These highly profiled individuals, that most of us see, in the mass media, are not any better than us or worst than us. They are just human beings, just like the rest of us, and, what people must stop doing is trying to put these celebrities on pedestals. Tiger Woods is a man just like me. He puts his pants on, just like any other male. The only difference is, that he is practically, a billionaire golfer, while other men(including myself), go to work on everyday jobs or careers, but, he is still a man, and not a god. This goes for David Letterman, Senator, John Edwards, and, all the other politicians, celebrities, movie stars, super athletes, and others that fall within this category as well.

I know that I posted tree times already, but I agree with you that men are men, however men should be attentive when they find themselves lurking for another. I believe that men should get jail time for cheating on their wives, and maybe that will change, and maybe that will make them think twice if men were held accountable for their unfaithfulness. I remember growing up in Michigan and a lady caught her husband having an affair, and she pretended like she was going to give him oral sex and in the middle of her doing that, she bit his penis off,and afterward she drug his penis in the streets!!!! Now, I believe that if men get this type of treatment for cheating, it will all cease!!!!
I agree on what you say but not all men are like this. Infidelity is very common in today’s time. I think the reason that men act like this is because media explicts this type of behavior. In todays time being married and staying with one person is not the case. It boils down to the way you think what is wrong and what is right. No matter if you are male or female.
I totally disagree, although infidelity can be traced back to the Bible, it still does not justify a mans infidelity. I think men cheat because of problems within their relationship or because of a sexual fantasy or desire they have. There is no commincation so one looks for what their lacking and cheat, others cheat because they like it and see nothing wrong with it, but i do believe they can be faithful is a matter of trying but yes men can be men but it still doesnt justify it and at the end the man will see that for a few hrs of pleasure they might be loosing something that may last forever i know this might sound very romantic but its true if you really love someone you wouldnt want to hurt them by cheating!!!! Men dont realize how unattractive they become when their infedility comes out. This is probably why we have all these rapist and serial killers they need to live a double life to fulfill their desires and only God could help them the sick ones and the well ones cannot compare so all those men that are conscious of what thier doing is all B.S they have a choice and there is no justification!!!
You are absolutely right when you say that all these powerful men are just like anybody else. But the media exploits them all the more, because they are supposed to be role models for the rest. But men in general, are also forgiven (or sometimes not punished as harshly) when they do cheat. It’s like we were expecting it. Nobody is surprised anymore (at least no the extent that we were surprised before) when we hear of yet another politician caught in a sex scandal. Heck, instead of saying “I can’t believe so and so did this,” we just ask, is it democrat or republican this time?
Illa Rodgers TGovt2302 says, and I answer, you are radical. After you cut off the penis, where do you store it or do you just hang it on your cel pone, like a lucky charm.
But, but, thinking about your comments, I agree with you partly/mostly. The Islamic Koran has major punishments for a women, why not for men tooo. It should go both ways for sure. But, biting it off and using it as a lucky charm around your neck or hanging from your cel phone. That Bites.
Ok, so what…if he is a football player is he important to your real life, NO.
Like a lying Politician like ex-gov. Edwards…running a state and for Vice-president.
But, it is not only Infidility it is the lying that makes it more wrong, like in Bill Clintons case.
I agree with you Professor, when you said that these people are just like us “Human beings,” they truly are. I mean namy people get star struck and make these “celebrities” “ovies stars”etc to be like there just “EVERYTHING”but in my opinion I fee like they are not. These people are just like us they eat and sleep and shit like us. So why do many people make a big of a deal when they “cheat or get drunk or what ever the case maybe it all comes down that they are just human beings people. Give them a brake. No one isnt perfect in this world, were going to come across some obstacles in our life one day or another
The only advantage that these people have is that they are “rich.” Even for that matter, that isnt a solid reason as to why the media/ society are such in shock when one cheats or whatever the case maybe.
This is very true. One major influence that fuels sexual desires of men and even women is the media. The media plays a huge part in our society and influences many of our decisions and desires. All the media does is promote sex and makes it out to be not a big deal even when its with many different poeple. Now I’m not saying that its all the media’s fault that there is infeldelity and promiscuity but it definately aids in convincing people that its is ok and that everyone does it. The solution is really wanting and asking for God’s help for strength and the ability to not give in to the desires of the flesh.
This is so true. The media is one of the biggest influences in how we think and how we see things. Sex sells so all the media does for aything is include sex. It’s hard to find a movie, a tv show anything withought sex its all around us. Of course men are going to fall for it they are human.
I do agree that men are men no matter how much money they have. But that doesnt give them an excuse to cheat. I do think though, because these people are authority figures they should be punished more severely, because the bible says in Luke 12:48 “To whom much is given of him shall much be required”.
That is a good question. Can one man be faithful to one girl? I think they can but the media plays a big role on the reason why men chat. I mean if they didnt see all these rappers and stuff with like two or three girls then they would be faithful. But some men are very gullable to the media. That doesnt give them the right to cheat neither.
Sometimes I wonder if a man can be faithful to one woman, I think they can depending on how they were raised and if they can resist temptation. I know we are all human beings but that still doesnt excuse for our infedelity to our spouses. I just think people shouldnt let it go to through their head that they can sleep with everyone they want.

I believe media powerhouses in the industry are far more savvy than we give them credit for. According to reports, countless media marketing firms have conducted psychological studies in order to better understand the inner mechanics of the human brain, and how to manipulate people into consumerism in order to maximize profits. They found that sexual imagery appeals to a region of the human brain known as the R-Complex (aka the “Reptilian Brain”). This stimulated buyers to subliminally equate products with both physiological and psychological pleasure. Corporate funded studies consistently found that men are easier to con in this way, which is why you see a greater quantity of sexualized commercialism aimed at them. After all, corporate-America uses the slogan “sex sells” for a reason.
As far as powerful, rich men cheating go, I believe Tiger Woods said it best: In a recent interview, he was surprisingly candid regarding why he cheated on his wife with multiple women. He responded: “I did it because I felt entitled. I felt I had worked hard for so many years to get where I’m at, and I deserved all of the benefits and temptations attached to it.”
While I applaud Tiger for his honestly, I truly believe he spoke for the majority of powerful, rich men who cheat. They have such puffed up egos, they believe the sanctity of fidelity no longer applies to them; as if they are owed something at the expense of their families. Rather selfish, if you ask me. What these men must realize is: When a person cheats on their spouse, they cheat on their children, too. Someone who is married with kids has a commitment to remain loyal to the ENTIRE family unit, not only to their significant-other.
i belive that men are responsible for their actions, and yes it might be hard for men to control their needs, but i belive that if you have a husband or wife, there should not be infidelity. i could understand when people are in involved in just a boyfriend grilfriend relationship, but even then that shouldnt happen. Although in the Tiger woods situation its his life, but his situation is way different to ours. He has money and power which makes his wanted more by women, and if he doesent control his needs he could end up with many women like he did. The point is just to be faithful because married men may go out and get their freak on, but do they stop and think if their wife may be doing the same way?

We as men need to stop and think of our actions before the consecuences come.
I do agree with this, because I deal with it myself, both going from woman to woman and watch porn. I love women, that’s my problem and I do go the church but most freaky women go to church with me or to church period because they are trying to get saved but fall like I do. You do need to put it in Gods hand but it takes a lot of prayer and finding a woman that has a lot of similarities with you.
All he individuals listed above are my idols the only negative about them is the fact that they got caught. Men and sex are inseparable terms like fat kid n cake or an addict to there drug. Infidelity is not bad, men actually feel better after having an affair, fights with girlfriend or spouse are less frequent. Harmony in a relationship equals 3 individuals not including offsprings. Now i can understand Tiger Woods 15 girls are equivalent to his wealth he has stress about it there for needs stress relievers. President Clinton had much stress i mean he had to clean up after the first Bush, Thank Monica for our country recovery. I wouldn’t blame President Obama if he had a girl on the side. Infidelity is a men’s nature!!!
The mass media does bomb men with sexual images on a daily maybe even an hourly basis. But, if you really think about it, is it not women (the sex that complains about men cheating) that provoke men to think of them as sexual objects. Besides men are cheating with other women, and those other women arent always single. So maybe women should take some time and think whether they themselves are to blame. I think women cheat just as much as men do, but the are more dicreet about their actions. The reason you dont hear about womens afairs as much on TV is becuase there is not nearly as many women in power as there are men. The mass media doesent care about who they are exploiting either, all they care about it making porfit off other poeples personal business. Other people are free to that what they want after all like you said they are only human, and what they do on their own free time is not the countries business. Although nothing justifies cheating, men and women cheat for the same reasons.
ME PERSONALLY, I THINK ALL MEN CHEAT, BUT ITS UP TO YOU WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN ACCEPT THE LEVEL THAT HE TOOK IT TO. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU CAN CHEAT BY LOOKING,FLIRTING, KISSING, TOUCHING OR HAVING SEX WITH THAT PERSON. EVERY MAN, EVERY MAN, I DON’T CARE WHO HE IS, HAS LOOKED AT ANOTHER WOMAN BEFORE AND HE MIGHT HAVE SMILED AND WENT ON ABOUT HIS BUSINESS AND I FEEL THATS FINE BECAUSE FEMALES ARE GUILTY OF THAT TO. THE SAME THING GOES FOR FLIRTING. ITS OK TO FLIRT THATS APART OF LIFE. EVEN IF YOU SAY YOU JUST DID IT TO GET OUT OF A SITUATION IT DON’T MATTER,FLIRTING IS FLIRTING. BUT I I FEEL IF YOU DO DO IT AT LEAST HAVE ENOUGH RESPECT NOT TO DO IT IN FRONT OF YOUR PARTNER. BUT IF IT GOES BEYONG THAT, THEN WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM! YOU MIGHT THINK ABOUT IT, I MEAN WHO DON’T. I MEAN CAUSE ME AS A FEMALE I KNOW I DO BUT ITS WHETHER OR NOT YOU CHOOSE TO ACT UPON THOSE FEELINGS THAT DETERMINE HOW “IN LOVE” YOU REALLY ARE. SO YES EVERY MAN DOES CHEAT AND SO DO WOMEN BUT ITS HOW YOU ACT UPON IT THAT DETERMINES WHETHER OR NOT YOU LOVE THEM…IF YOU LOVE OR CARE FOR ME LIKE YOU SAY YOU DO YOU WOULDN’T CHEAT. YOU SHOULD SAY IS THIS ONE NIGHT REALLY WORHT ME LOSING MY GIRL??….LADIES DON’T LET HIM TELL TOU THAT IT JUST AIN’T THERE NO MORE BECAUSE IF IT WASN’T YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT BUT YOU JUST WANT THE ONE YOU LOVE AND THE CHICK ON THE SIDE…….AND SOME MEN YOU JUST CAN’T SSEM TO SATISFY. THEY WAND WHAT THEY CAN’T HAVE. THEY GET WHAT THEY DIDN’T HAVE IN THE MISTRESS BUT REALIZE IT AIN’T WORHT NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT HE HAD AT FIRST. MEN ARE NEVER FULLY SATISFIED BUT THEY NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN LIVE WITH AND WHAT THEY CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT. BUT IF HE CHEATS, I SAY ITS A WRAP, BURGER KING IS GONE AND YOU CAN NO LONGER HAVE IT YO WAY…SEE YA!!
I do agree with this article… The mass media is a huge influence on men and women. It all depends to the persons personallity and the way they were raised…But that added to the list people has let media influenced them from one point of view to another. But in my personal opinion men are the ones that mostly cheat on women because it seems easier for them, but once they comitte the action they are always the “innocent ones…They think they never do anything wrong, but when the girl cheats them back she is the bad one.
We live in a world full of temptations that urges us to compromise our godly values. But when we choose to compromise we pay a price, even though it may not seem immediately apparent to others (or even to ourselves). Satan wants us to believe the lie that no one gets hurt when we compromise our core values. But that lie has cost men their jobs and ministries, children their innocence, and at times, it has cost individuals their very lives. God’s righteousness is forever. He doesn’t wink at compromise. Let’s consider Solomon. After his compromise came collapse. God didn’t waste any words. He said he would rip the kingdom out of Solomon’s hands because of his compromise. That is exactly what happened. (1 Kings. 11:11). A minister stated, “Don’t compromise what you shouldn’t. Trust God and leave all of the consequences to Him.”
